Pennsylvania Reports Revenue Spike Thanks to iGaming Growth

Pennsylvania igaming revenue

Maintaining its reputation as one of the country’s top gambling markets, Pennsylvania brought in the new year with a strong performance.

According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, combined revenue from gaming rose to $529 million in January 2025, a 10.88% increase over the previous year. Data was compiled from all forms of gaming, including 17 brick-and-mortar casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports betting, and video game terminals.

Online gaming enjoyed the highest increase, with revenue jumping 40.52% to $210.1 million. With numbers like that, it’s no wonder why some lawmakers in Illinois are pushing for iGaming legalization in their state.

Pennsylvania is still one of just seven states to allow iGaming, in which users can play their favorite casino games such as blackjack, poker and roulette online. The only other eligible states are Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and West Virginia.

Revenue from retail slot machines was $187.8 million, a 4.6% increase compared to the $179.5 million generated in January 2024. Parx Casino in Bensalem, topped the list at $29.9 million in revenue, followed by Wind Creek Bethlehem ($21.2 million) and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh ($20.5 million).

Pennsylvania has more than 67,000 “skill game” terminals according to the American Gaming Association, more than any other state. These can be found not just in casinos but also in convenience stores and bars, making them easily accessible.

Meanwhile, retail table gaming revenue was $73.7 million, an increase of 1.46% from January 2024 when revenue was $72.6 million. Wind Creek Bethlehem ($19.4 million) and Parx Casino ($15.4 million) were again among the top performers, along with Live! Casino Philadelphia ($7.7 million).

Sports betting didn’t see nearly the same growth. In fact, revenue declined 26.3% to $51.5 million. Still, month-to-month, the Keystone State remains one of the top performers for sports bettors. With close to a dozen online sportsbooks, including industry leaders DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM, and 17 retail locations, bettors needn’t travel far to place a legal wager.

Valley Forge Casino Resort generated the most revenue at $28.7 million, followed by Hollywood Casino at the Meadows ($14.9 million) and Hollywood Casino Morgantown ($3.4 million).

Revenue for video gaming terminals was $3.1 million, up 4.48% from $3.03 million in January 2024.

In Pennsylvania, residents must be 21 to bet legally on sports, while the minimum age to play the lottery is 18.
