Mobile Legends: Bang Bang will introduce the new ‘Brave Draft’ ban system into MLBB’s Continental Championship (MCC) alongside a revised best-of-three Regular Season format.

The new drafting system will prevent teams from choosing the same hero twice in a match series, adding an extra level of strategy to games.

Brave Draft functions similarly to League of Legends’ Fearless Draft introduced earlier this year. Fearless Draft has both Soft and Hard variations. Soft makes bans exclusive to each side, meaning one side can choose to use a hero previously selected by the opponent. Hard bans a hero no matter which side chooses to use them.

Brave Draft, by comparison, is more aligned with the Soft variation as each team will have its own unique set of banned characters based on past choices.

However, in a grand final where it’s best-of-seven, the seventh game lifts bans and teams can pick any hero without restriction.

MCC Sees Brave Draft Debut

MCC Season 5 will see Brave Draft’s introduction in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s league ecosystem. The system ultimately aims to introduce diverse strategies and surprise compositions.

Brave Draft has yet to be announced for MLBB’s other competitive league or tournaments. However, its introduction at MCC does indicate that there is potential for the ban system to spread if it is received well.

The system will take effect alongside a new best-of-three format introduced for the MCC regular season, beginning on April 5th, 2025. This new format will more closely align with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League.

Adding a third game prevents match ties from happening, aiming to bring higher stakes to the competitive scene.

MCC is a regional esports tournament that pits the best teams against one another as part of a larger competitive scene for the hit mobile esports game. The event is designed for the Eastern European and Central Asian region. Teams battle across a series of matches with the ultimate goal of being named Continental Champion and securing qualification to MLBB’s international events.

These are all the teams set to compete in MCC:

  • CyberHero
  • Forze Esports
  • Insilio
  • OMBRA Esports
  • Sibe Team
  • Team Spirit
  • Verso Time
  • Virtus.pro
