Elden Ring: Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones
Need more Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones in Elden Ring? Smithing Stones will only take you so far when upgrading your weapons. To truly get the best weapons in Elden Ring, you need to use Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones – and their even rarer cousins, Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones. These are the only crafting materials that will allow you to upgrade a weapon to +25 – the highest weapon level in the game. Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones are used to upgrade normal weapons (like the Uchigatana), while Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones are used to upgrade special weapons (like Bloodhound’s Fang).
Unlike regular Smithing Stones and Somber Smithing Stones, which can be purchased infinitely, the Ancient Dragon variants are finite. In fact, you can only find a maximum of 21 Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones and 14 Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones per playthrough in the entire base game and expansion combined. What’s more, they’re not easy to find; many of them are hidden away in hard-to-reach spots, or at the end of long side quests.
Below we’ve compiled an exhaustive list of all 35 Somber and Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone locations across both Elden Ring and its Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC. You can use the interactive maps and location lists below to track down each one to perfect your favourite weapons, and you can even use our tables to check off the Stones you’ve already found to help keep track of your progress!
