Nintendo’s massive Black Friday sale isn’t officially kicking off until November 24, and will even feature a Switch OLED bundle (including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 12 months of NSO) for just $275. But, Nintendo has started things off with an early digital game sale, which Best Buy has either price-matched or even beaten the deals altogether. Here are my favorite Switch Black Friday digital deals to check out before everything gets that little bit more frantic this weekend.
TL;DR: Switch Black Friday Game Deals
Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble
Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble (Digital Deluxe Edition) is just $24.99 at Best Buy today in the early Black Friday sales, $10 less than the eShop offer at $34.99. Now that’s a Black Friday bargain. In his review, Logan Plant was incredibly impressed by the game in his review for IGN, saying:
“Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble is a brilliant return to form. Monkey Ball has finally found its way home again with a set of 200 fantastic courses that range from delightfully charming to devilishly challenging, backed up by tight mechanics and predictable physics that put me in total control of my monkey’s fate.”
Sonic x Shadow Generations
As expected, Sonic X Shadow Generations is on sale for Black Friday. It’s a good deal for digital-only gamers as well, at $37.49. In her IGN review, Jada Griffen said: “Sonic X Shadow Generations takes an already excellent game and spring jumps it to new heights at a blistering pace by doubling up the campaign length with creative level design, fantastic bosses, plenty of collectibles, and an appreciable graphical upgrade.”
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
It’s $20 off and down to $49.99, but patience could be the move. Tears of the Kingdom will be $39.99 at Target (physical) on Sunday (November 24) so if you don’t mind the wait and a physical copy, it’s worth going for the better deal this weekend. It was IGN’s Game of the Year winner for 2023, and I can’t recommend the game enough, it’s a masterpiece.
Persona 5 Royal
Persona 5 Royal got a blistering 10/10 masterpiece review from IGN when it released, and you can pick it up for just $14.99 right now for Nintendo Switch. Here’s what reviewer Leana Hafer had to say about the game: “Persona 5 was already a strong front-runner for being the best JRPG ever made, and Royal really gets me wondering what else could even compete. The excellent story and its lovable, multidimensional characters along with the challenging, tactical combat are all refined and back for another round with new surprises and new friends in tow. The Phantom Thieves have stolen my heart all over again, and I don’t really want it back.”
Sonic Superstars
Sonic Superstars is one of the most recent gaming entry to the longstanding franchise and the most recent of the 2D platforming Sonic games. It’s received a pretty sizable discount for Black Friday, down to $17.99 for Switch. That’s $32 off the list price and a huge saving overall. Jada Griffin gave the game a 7/10 in her IGN review: “Sonic Superstars has a mix of both interesting and ill-advised new ideas, making it an enjoyable Sonic game but not exactly a Super one.”
More Early Black Friday Switch Game Deals
That’s all she wrote, but that’s by no means the only Switch deals available for buyers right now, so ensure you’re looking over the whole Best Buy and eShop sales to ensure you’re getting the games you really want to play this holiday season.
Reminder: Several Nintendo Switch games will also be available at lower prices at major retailers like Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart from November 24. This includes The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom dropping to $39.99, and other games down to at least $29.99. We predicted we’d see very similar deals in our “What to Expect” for Nintendo Black Friday column.
There’s also plenty of great Switch deals to check out today, but one of our favorites is on Mario & Luigi: Brothership. The new release has gotten its first discount at Woot, dropping its price by $10 to $49.99. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is also down to $44.99 at Woot.

When Is Black Friday 2024?
The actual date of Black Friday in 2024 falls on November 29 this year, but the deals season will begin a lot sooner than that. Leading up to the big event, retailers will begin to open deals online. Each week leading up to the event will slowly roll out more deals, which ultimately leads to massive discounts on Black Friday. Retailers will not reveal their biggest Black Friday deals until the big day, but most general deals will be available well in advance.
