The Metaphor: ReFantazio Prologue Demo is available today across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, developer Atlus has announced.
The demo is already available on Xbox Series X and comes to PlayStation 5 and PC very soon at 9am Pacific / 12noon Eastern / 5pm UK. It features a sizeable chunk of the incoming fantasy role-playing and progress will carry over to the main game upon its October 11 launch.
“In the Prologue Demo, players can experience some of the early game narrative, explore social elements, and discover the city as they get a head start on their adventure ahead of the October 11 launch,” Atlus said.
The demo includes the first four dungeons; the ability to unlock seven of the more than 40 classes, called Archetypes; an introduction to six followers including party members that supports the player; and more.
“Metaphor: ReFantazio is an all-new fantasy RPG from the creative minds of Persona 3, 4, and 5,” the official synopsis reads. “Players will write their destiny and rise above fear as they step into a fantasy world unlike any other in a perilous race for the throne.”
IGN said Metaphor: ReFantazio is a “brilliant evolution” to the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei games in our preview of the game. “From each character’s magical awakening and all the RPG mechanics it opens, to the social sim elements that feed into how you interact with the world, Metaphor ReFantazio is clearly adopting the Persona formula — but it’s doing so for something seemingly bigger in scope from both a gameplay and storytelling perspective,” we said.
