Death Stranding 2 Footage Shows Super Weird Photo Mode, Dancing Puppet Men, and George Miller

Kojima Productions has shared a handful of gameplay clips from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, showing off its super weird photo mode, dancing puppet men, a character played by Mad Max director George Miller, and more oddities from the mind of Hideo Kojima.

A collection of clips was shared on X/Twitter, below, beginning with perhaps the most normal: a topless Norman Reedus steps through black goo to meet a man called Tarman (played by Miller) and his flying pet cat alongside a creepy talking puppet.

This was part one of the footage, and part two introduces more characters including Tomorrow (played by Elle Fanning) and Rainy (played by Shioli Kutsuna).

The two chat with Reedus’s character Sam and sing a song with the aforementioned creepy little puppet, officially called Dollman.

Death Stranding 2 also features a character called Heartman who demonstrates his ability to sleep standing up in the third clip, while the latter two are even more wild.

One of these shows off what’s called a Photo Shoot Event, which is seemingly a blend between a collectible and a new take on photo mode.

It sees the player take a photo of the three women in Death Stranding 2 – Tomorrow, Rainy, and Fragile, played by Lea Seydoux – while they pose, dance, and make strange noises.

The gameplay shows the trio standing in front of a mirror, posing on some stairs, and dancing around a bike.

Not looking to be outdone, the final clip is a music video for a song called Horizon Dreamer where a man dances with several versions of the little puppet man.

Death Stranding 2 is expected in 2025 but Kojima Productions hasn’t shared a specific release date yet. An introduction to its story was shared in January but, given its complex themes, plenty is still up in the air. Kojima has confirmed which characters are not returning though.

In our 6/10 review of Death Stranding, IGN said: “Death Stranding delivers a fascinating world of supernatural sci-fi, but its gameplay struggles to support its weight.”
