Velan Studios, makers of Knockout City, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, and Hot Wheels Rift Rally, has announced Midnight Murder Club, a new six-player first-person hide-and-seek multiplayer party game where all you’ll have in order to survive against other players are a flashlight, a revolver, and your wits. It’s due out on PC via Steam in Fall 2024.

Midnight Murder Club is planning four game modes for launch: a traditional Deathmatch (in regular or 2v2v2 team variants); Free For All, which values deadliness above all else; Hunter/Hunted, in which two players become Hunters and try to prevent the rest from locating and burning four hidden effigies; and Thief in the Night, where teams of two try to steal more valuables than the other duos.

“With Midnight Murder Club, we started with a simple game jam idea of a shooter in the dark and we quickly realized that we had something unique,” said game director Eric Feurstein. “By playing with light, dark and sound, we’re able to offer a riveting gameplay experience that keeps players’ adrenaline pumping. Playing in pitch darkness is an immediately novel experience where you’re scared to turn your flashlight on for fear that someone will see it, but also don’t want to turn it off for fear of losing your way.
