Nintendo is hosting its first Indie World Showcase of 2024. As the name implies, this digital event focused entirely on indie games that were headed to Nintendo’s hybrid gaming system, the Nintendo Switch. Steamworld Heist 2 Officially Announced, Out August 8
Thunderful announced today that Steamworld Heist II is in development and will be released on August 8th, 2024.
The new gameplay trailer revealed at the showcase showed that SteamWorld Heist II would keep the same turn-based ricochet strategy gameplay while being set in a lush tropical environment called Carribea.
Thunderful spoke with IGN before the announcement, and producer Peter Magnusson explained that this upcoming release is a “milestone of size and scope” for the Steamworld franchise. Story and crew customization will be given greater emphasis than in previous releases.
Little Kitty, Big City Let’s You Explore a Quirky Neighborhood as a Cat
If you are looking for another game in which you play as a cute little cat, Little Kitty, Big City is just the game for you. Players explore a colorful yet quirky neighborhood as they venture across the setting on their way home, while also helping other animals they encounter and tripping humans if they wish to cause chaos.
Little Kitty, Big City is out on May 9 for Nintendo Switch.
Atari Announced Yars Rising at Indie World Showcase
Yars Rising is a new side-scrolling run and gun platformer from Atari. The gameplay looks similiar to games like Metroid and Mega Man based on first glances. With some stealth components as we see snippets of the protagonist Yar evading robotic enemies.
Yars Rising arrives later this year.
Refined Self is a Timed-Exclusive Arriving This Summer
Refind Self: The Personality Test Game is an exploration-based adventure game with heavy themes of self-discovery. Players control an android created by a now-deceased doctor. Throughout their adventure, players will learn more about the characters they control based on their choices and decisions, providing ample replayability to see how the story unfolds.
Refined Self: The Personality Test Game arrives this summer as a timed exclusive for the Nintendo Switch.
Sticky Business Is Headed to Nintendo Switch Today
Originally released last year on PC, this cozy, vibrant game has players running a small business where they create and sell stickers. Players can pack orders and hear customers share testimonials about their experience purchasing products.
Sticky Business and all the DLC released will arrive on Nintendo Switch today as a timed console exclusive.
Antonblast Gets November 12 Releaese Date
Announced at the 2023 Guerrilla Collective Showcase last summer, Antonblast is headed to PC and Nintendo Switch this November. Antonblast is a chaotic action platformer where players will bhave ample opportunities to destroy enemies and worlds.
Valley Peaks Is Getting a Switch Port
Valley Peaks is an adventure game in which players climb mountains. Each mountain is a unique puzzle that requires a different strategy to solve to reach the top. Valley Peaks was first announced over a year ago as a PC exclusive, but today’s Indie Showcase confirmed that Nintendo’s hybrid console will also be a platform option.
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes Gets May Release Date
An action-adventure puzzle game published by Annapurna Interactive, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is set somewhere in Europe where players control a young woman who has become entangled with increasingly dangerous illusions. Its nonlinear mystery will challenge players with new riddles to solve, which will inch them closer to solving the mystery.
Europa Delayed Again, a Demo Will Head to the Switch eShop Today
Announced back in 2022, Novadust Entertainment has provided a new release window for Europa, its action-adventure 3D platformer, by creative director Helder Pinto. Initially supposed to release in 2023, the studio announced it was delayed to April 16. After the game missed its release date yesterday, today’s indie world showcase revealed a new release window of sometime before the end of 2024.
While players will need to wait a little longer, the studio announced that a demo would be available on the eShop starting today.
TMNT Splintered Fate Is a TImed Exclusive Coming This July
Everyone’s favorite pizza-eating turtles are back in a new four-player multiplayer game titled TMNT Splintered Fate. This co-op action game was first released on Apple devices last year and has players fighting their way through the streets of New York to rescue the team’s Master Splinter after he was kidnapped by their archnemesis Shredder.
A Third Cat Quest Game Is Releasing This Year
Today’s Indie Shspoiled spiled cat lovers as we got not one, but two indie games headed to Switch, where you play as a feline. Cat Quest III is an action RPG where players roam a 2.5 open-world, fighting off pirates and searching for treasure. As the name implies, this forthcoming project is a sequel to two previous titles released in 2019 and 2017.

Stich. Is Another Mobile Game Making Its Way to Switch
A relaxing puzzle game where you create beautiful embroidery patterns, Stich. It was released originally on Apple devices such as the iPad in 2022 before today’s announcement. More interestingly, developer Lykke Studios explained on its official website that it developed an in-house realistic embroidery engine to help players “enjoy the feel of playing with the real embroidery thread” on their platform of choice.
Schim Is Finally Releasing on Switch, and Other Platforms This July
Nearly two years after its initial announcement at Day of the Devs, Publisher Extra Nice has shared a new trailer along with confirmation that its platformer SCHiM will arrive on Switch, in addition to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on July 18, 2024.
Retro Futuristic Platformer Bzzzt Is Coming to Switch This Summer
Publisher Cinemax Games announced today that its challenging yet fun action platformer Bzzzt is getting a Switch port after originally releasing on PC last November. Nintendo fans do not have to wait too long to play it, as it will be released sometime this summer. If you like games like Super Meat Boy and Celeste, its gameplay might strike your fancy.
Animal Well Still on Track to Release Next Month
Announced over two years ago, Shared Memory’s unconventional yet charming puzzle platformer Animal Well is a combat-free platformer where players control a blob exploring branching paths filled with beautiful or creepy creatures to encounter.
My colleague Tom Marks previewed the game back in 2022 and wrote: “Animal Well is a charming platformer that puts fun little spins on one of [his] favorite genres.”
Developer Shared Memory already confirmed last month that Animal Well would arrive on May 9 for Switch, PC, and PlayStation 5.
Duck Detective: The Secret Salami Will Arrive on Switch Next Month
A mystery adventure game, Happy Broccoli Games’ upcoming project, Detective Duck: The Secret Salami, will be released on Nintendo Switch and the previously confirmed PC version on May 23.
Players control a cute hat-wearing duck who is investigating a “sausage-based conspiracy.” This charming adventure game will have players interview and inspect suspects to determine animals and determine who’s behind this crime.
It’s a relatively short game, with the Steam listing noting it takes 2-3o to 3 hours to complete.
Another Crab’s Treasure Gets One More Look Before Its Release Later This Month
An aquatic soulslike adventure game, Another Crab’s Treasure has players controlling a hermit crab named Kril, who embarks on an adventure to find treasure and use it to buy back his shell.
Developer Aggro Crab announced in February that its second project as a team would launch on April 25. So today’s trailer is one more look for players to peek at before the action RPG hits Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox next week.
