Game developer MOONTON Games has announced a set of esports tournament-focused support features for its MOBA title Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB).

The new features will be launched in collaboration with esports tournament platforms Battlefy, Challonge and Toornament.

Per a release, the move aims to boost the accessibility of third-party MLBB tournaments through its new MLBB Tournament Tool and Major Community Tournament License Application. Both features will be found on Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s dedicated third-party tournament website.

The MLBB Tournament Tool will support the setup of smaller tournaments through a simple tournament lobby. Once a lobby is created, a QR code or unique ID can be shared with players for them to join. Prior to this addition, organisers had to manually add each player as a friend in-game and invite them to lobbies.

The Major Community Tournament License Application will allow larger tournament organisers to ‘gain additional support and resources’, according to a release. Organisers will unlock access to a tournament server that features all heroes and emblems unlocked. Moreover, certification to use MLBB’s logo and additional marketing support through official MLBB channels will also be provided.

MOONTON’s collaboration with Battlefy, Challonge and Toornament means that organisers can set up tournaments directly through these platforms without manually managing matches and communication.

Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON Games, commented: “Our third-party partners and esports event organisers are key pillars of our esports ecosystem as they represent the strength of our community.

“Our new support features reflect our two-pronged approach – to simplify the tournament hosting process and reduce barriers to entry, as well as empower them with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to thrive.”

Mobile Legends’ new features are among many esports-focused announcements that MOONTON has made this year alone. In March, MOONTON partnered with the Nigeria Esports Federation to boost the country’s domestic MLBB scene. In January, the developer also teamed up with esports event organiser IO Esports to create a new academy league in Malaysia.
