Counter-strike tournament series Champion of Champions Tour will return for a second season in 2024 and 2025.

The tournament will see several changes, including consolidating Europe into a single region, and features a total $1.5m (£1.18m) prize pool, around $100,000 more than the first season.

The Champion of Champions Tour is a large-scale CS2 series that was created in 2022 by esports data company GRID and featured several other notable esports tournament organisers as its partners. For the new season, Malta-based tournament organiser EDEN Esports will be responsible for all CCT regions, apart from the Oceania region which will be run by LetsPlay.Live.

The CCT’s first season, which started in 2022, is set to be concluded with a $500,000 Global Finals in May 2024. The Finals will feature well-known esports teams such as Virtus.pro, Team Spirit, MIBR and Berlin International Gaming (BIG), among others.

Interestingly, the new season will start before the current season ends. The first matches of the second season are scheduled for April 15, 2024, around a month before the first season ends in late May. For the new season, the organisers decided to consolidate Europe into a single region, abandoning the former format that had the continent separated into several divisions.

For the new season, Europe will have 20 online events, South America will have eight, and both North America and Oceania will have four events each. The best teams will advance to the next stages to qualify for the Global Finals in 2025.

Head of Tournament Operations at GRID, Fabian Logemann Commented on the announcement: “The CCT 2022/2023 season has been an incredible journey and we’re thrilled to announce the upcoming circuit, continuing to offer a sustainable platform for our partners, teams, and talent. Counter-Strike is thriving and we can’t wait to enter the new CS2 era with the Champion of Champions Tour.”
