Virtus.Pro and Entity have secured a place in the 1win Series Dota 2 Spring finals following victories against Team Spirit and Team Liquid, respectively.

The $100,000 (~£78,500) tournament, which is hosted by bookmaker 1win, saw all four sides compete in BO3’s for a chance to qualify for tomorrow’s finals and secure its $50,000 first-place prize.

With coverage supported by 1win, here’s how Day Three of the 1win Series Dota 2 Spring went down.

The first match-up of the day saw Virtus.Pro’s record a surprising 2-0 victory over tournament favourites Team Spirit. The International 2023 champions qualified for the playoffs by beating 1win’s own esports organisation and MOUZ on day two. However, this momentum was unable to be capitalised on with Virtus.Pro beating Team Spirit with relative ease after a 45-17 victory in 44 minutes.

Game two told a similar story as Virtus.Pro gradually gained momentum before securing a 31-20 victory in just under 49 minutes. This means that The International 2023 champions will only be able to contest for third place, which will be decided before tomorrow’s Grand Final.

Day Three of the 1win Series Dota 2 Spring was seemingly the day of upsets as Entity‘s CIS-roster also secured an unlikely BO3 series win over Team Liquid. The multinational esports organisation was back to full strength after former TSM player Enzo ‘Timado’ Gianoli previously subbed in for Michael ‘miCKe’ Vu on the second day. However, the Swede’s return failed to stop Entity from securing a surprisingly dominant 2-0 victory.

In the end, Entity beat Team Liquid 29-4 (29 minutes) and 37-15 (29 minutes) to wrap up the series in less than one hour.

As a result of today’s matchups, no organisation that has qualified for the upcoming ESL One Birmingham LAN event will be competing in the final. This is despite three of the series’ participants taking part in the event (Team Spirit, Team Liquid and 1win).

Tomorrow (March 19th) is the last day of match-ups for the 1win Series Dota 2 Spring with everything still to play for. With prize money distributed by placement, Team Spirit and Team Liquid will face off for third place. Moreover, the series will conclude with Virtus.Pro taking on Entity to be crowned the inaugural 1win Series Dota 2 champion.

The prize pool is allocated as follows: 1st: $50,000 (~£39,300), 2nd $30,000, 3rd $15,000 and 4th $5,000.

1win has yet to confirm another series. However, in the bookmaker’s announcement of the tournament, 1win did mention that the plan will be to host more esports events of this calibre in the near future.

Fans can tune into the final day of the 1win Series Dota 2 Spring live on YouTube and Twitch, with the action scheduled to commence at 11am GMT.
