According to bookmaker 1win, the $100,000 Dota 2 tournament is expected to be the first in a series of esports events. However, as of right now, further details have yet to be revealed.

Prior to today’s Grand Finals, Team Liquid and Team Spirit faced off in the event’s third-place match, with Team Liquid ultimately walking away with $15,000 following a well-performed 2-1 victory.

Alongside the four competitors today, the eight-team event also featured the likes of PSG Quest, L1GA Team, MOUZ and 1win’s own esports division.

The BO5 series between Virtus.Pro and Entity continued to highlight the latter’s brilliant run in the tournament. However, it wasn’t an ideal start for Entity’s mixed CIS roster after losing to Virtus.Pro 33-21 in under 45 minutes. The Indian esports organisation, however, did manage to come back with a decent 28-18 victory in game two before the 50-minute mark.

Following the closer second game, Entity seemed to find its groove in the series securing a 45-23 victory in game three (41 minutes) and a 41-18 victory in game four (41 minutes). Alimzhan ‘watson’ Islambekov was a standout performer for Entity throughout the whole tournament, with the player recording a total KDA of 55/10/34 in the final series of 1win Series Dota 2 Spring. Watson is also currently number one in the Dota 2 World Leaderboards in Europe.

Team Spirit vs Team Liquid was a surprising third-place match-up given that both sides had expected to reach the finals. However, both organisations were hoping for better performances in this match, particularly with ESL One Birmingham commencing next month. The back-and-forth BO3 series saw Team Liquid claim the first game with relative ease after gaining the advantage at the 15-minute mark. Ultimately, this momentum carried the multinational organisation to a 43-26 44-minute victory.

The second game did see Team Spirit bounce back to take the series to a third game. Lasting nearly 70 minutes, Team Spirit managed to grind out a 60-47 win. The last match-up was the closest game of the series. Following a relatively even first 15 minutes, Team Liquid ultimately took control of the game, thwarting Team Spirit’s potential comebacks by securing a 34-24 victory in just under 50 minutes.

At the time of this writing, the competition garnered a peak viewership of 64,589, which was recorded during the Team Spirit and Team Liquid match. Overall 1win Series Dota 2 Spring recorded over 850,000 hours watched across its 32-hour airtime.

The final standing and prize allocation was as follows:

1st – Entity ($50,000)

2nd – Virtus.Pro ($30,000)

3rd – Team Liquid ($15,000)

4th – Team Spirit ($5000)

To see how the whole tournament unfolded, Esports Insider has provided recaps for days one, two and three of the 1win Series Dota 2 Spring, with coverage supported by bookmaker 1win.
