The announcement is part of an ongoing collaberation between the two parties signed in January 2024, aimed at supporting women in esports and gaming. Thunderpick and the*gameHERs also announced a campaign called Pink Picks which showcases female gamers on the weekly Pink Pixels stream hosted by gameHERs.
This announcement focuses on a tournament organised jointly by the two organisations, called FemaLED. The tournament will offer the best team a chance to play in the Thunderpick World Championship 2024 North American Qualifiers. The World Championship is a recently-announced CS2 team with a $1m prize pool which will take place later this year.
Details such as the dates and qualification process for the FemaLED tournament were not shared, but Thunderpick and gameHERs did note that there will be a watch party organised at the Momocon convention on May 27th. It is, however, interesting that Thunderpick is offering a direct path to the World Championship for a women’s team, which is not often seen in esports.
Thunderpick is a cryptocurrency betting and casino platform that has made several notable moves in 2024. The company has partnered with esports organisation Heroic earlier this month in a multi-year deal across all of Heroic’s rosters. It is also behind the mentioned Thunderpick World Championship. In addition to Heroic, Thunderpick works with esports media outlets Dexerto and HLTV.
