Ghost Gaming to provide adaptive esports to United Spinal Association of Georgia

North American esports organisation Ghost Gaming has signed a multi-year partnership with the United Spinal Association of Georgia.

The organisations will collaborate to implement and grow the ‘Nerve Gaming’ adaptive esports programme which supports individuals with spinal cord injuries.

The programme features various gaming and esports-related activations to help create a sense of community among those with spinal cord injuries. The initiative offers access to new technologies and adaptive gaming equipment at partner venues. Individuals with disabilities can also benefit from esports coaching, content creator support, competitive gaming events, and community game nights.

According to the announcement, gaming can enhance the therapy goals and rehabilitation of those affected by spinal cord injuries by providing a sense of normalcy, decreasing social isolation, and elevating quality of life.  

Dr. Tepper, President of United Spinal of Georgia, stated: “Like millions of other able-bodied esports enthusiasts, individuals with disabilities enjoy gaming and want to be active members of this community: playing, competing, creating content, and even earning money.”

The United Spinal Association of Georgia looks to improve the lives of people with spinal cord injuries and disorders, as well as wheelchair users, through initiatives such as peer mentoring during and outside of rehab and monthly support group meetings.

The ‘Nerve Gaming’ programme is supported by a grant from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, which dedicated its funding to spinal cord injury-related programmes and research.

Founded in 2016, Atlanta-based esports organisation Ghost Gaming primarily competes in Rocket League, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty Warzone. Its partners include Zenni Optical, Georgia Public Broadcasting and Blimpie.

In recent years, Ghost Gaming has been involved in numerous partnerships and esports events aimed at creating a positive social impact on communities inside and outside gaming.

Furthermore, the organisation launched its Ghost Gaming Academy in 2023. The youth platform intends to boost skill development through gaming and esports.
