100 Thieves announce leadership shakeup

North American esports organisation 100 Thieves has announced that founding executive and current President and COO John Robinson will be moving to an advisor role within the company.

To fill the void, 100 Thieves has promoted three executives to the roles of Chief Business Officer (CBO), President and Chief Operations Officer (COO).

100 Thieves’ Chief Financial Officer Jason Ton has been revealed as the new CBO, whilst also retaining his current position. Jacob Toft-Andersen, the organisation’s former Senior Vice President for Esports, has been promoted to President, whilst Julie Van, formerly Senior Vice President for People, is 100 Thieves’ new COO.

Robinson has spent the last six years at the helm of 100 Thieves alongside fellow Founder and current CEO Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag. During his tenure at 100 Thieves, the organisation has competed across a range of games and won a glutton of trophies including the 2022 CDL Championship, Valorant First Strike North America, 2021 LCS Championship and more.

On the business side, 100 Thieves has been very active in the last six years. Recent highlights include signing a partnership with Subway, launching its own game studio, and launching then later selling its own energy drink brand.

100 Thieves’ new President, Jacob Toft-Andersen, was brought into 100 Thieves five years ago after leaving Infinite Esports & Entertainment, the parent company of OpTic Gaming. Meanwhile, the new COO, Julie Van, joined in late 2020 from Lucky Strike Entertainment where she was Vice President of People & Culture. The longest-serving employee out of the trio, Jason Ton, joined 100 Thieves in 2018 after leaving his role as Financial Director at Riot Games.

Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag, the CEO of 100 Thieves, gave a statement about the recent promotions, noting: “I want to thank John for his tireless effort over the last six years. What we’ve accomplished together has exceeded my expectations.
