It has been noticed that 100 Thieves’ CEO, Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag has removed any affiliation with the brand from his social pages and has been listed as ‘Former CEO’ on Google. This news comes out of nowhere today, and it has set social circles ablaze with questions. This isn’t a topic that Nadeshot has touched upon recently, but it’s no big secret that he has been leaning heavily into streaming in recent weeks and is preparing for the arrival of his first child.
Elsewhere, Valkyrae, who is a co-owner of 100 Thieves, also removed any mention of the organisation from her Twitter bio. She explained on stream that this was due to the desire to promote some upcoming merch in that space instead, much to the confusion of fans. On social media, Haag’s last post was talking about ordering a new monitor to play Call of Duty Warzone, and that was back on December 8.

Is Nadeshot Stepping Down?
It’s not the time to assume that anything final is happening with 100 Thieves. It hasn’t been a banner time for the organisation of late, but that doesn’t mean it’s about to shut up shop. There were layoffs made within the firm earlier this year, but that was to prevent the company from experiencing financial struggles, not a move in preparation for closing things down.
In Call of Duty, 100 Thieves’ team, LA Thieves, won a $200,000 Major during the 2023 CDL season, but in almost every other esports title, the organisation hasn’t fared too well in recent years. There was a relatively sizeable VALORANT win late in 2022, and in 2021, the team won the LCS Summer circuit and brought home $100,000, but outside of that, there isn’t much to write home about.
It should be stressed that this likely isn’t the reason why Nadeshot could be stepping down from 100 Thieves as CEO.
What’s With The Social Media Blackout?
There could be any number of reasons why Haag is removing his affiliation from his social media profiles. We couldn’t imagine he’d be preparing to leave the company entirely and he’d strip the branding from his social pages before letting his followers know about the move, though. To be frank, the LCS and the CDL aren’t in great shape at the moment, and that doesn’t help sell the notion that all is well at 100 Thieves.
Recently, Nadeshot celebrated hitting Immortal in VALORANT and has been streaming for hours every day. It’s not the type of behaviour you’d associate with a high-performing CEO, so maybe he’s working through a ‘notice period’ before he drops the role and heads off to kick off family life in earnest.
