Ever wondered how to appear offline on League of Legends? Here are a few options on how to become a “shadow” in the Rift.
How to appear offline in LoL
There might be times when you just want to play your ranked games or enjoy some alone time. It happens to everyone, myself included. At the same time, however, you might not want others to know that you’re online. This guide will teach you how to appear offline while you’re busy on the Summoner’s Rift.
Appear Offline in LoL through Deceive
The best way to appear offline when playing LoL is by using Deceive, a third-party program that you can download from GitHub. Unlike other platforms like Steam and Battle.net, Riot Client doesn’t have the offline feature included.
What Deceive does essentially is remove your presence, meaning that you won’t appear online but you can still see the friend list and invite other players to the lobby. Here are the steps to installing Deceive:
Ensure your League of Legends client and Riot Client are closed.
Head to the Deceive page on GitHub
Download the latest version from the Releases section, and open the Deceive.exe file.
Open LoL. You will see a new category on your Social column called Deceive, with a category named “Deceive Active!” to signal that the feature is activated.
If you want to turn it off, just deactivate Deceive or right-click the icon in the Taskbar to change the status. Please keep in mind that the Deceive program is currently not available for Mac users.
Disabling chat in LoL – the ultimate “offline” mode
If you also want to be completely offline in your games as well, you can choose to mute yourself and mute others through the League of Legends client. Here are the steps on how to disable the chat:
Load the League of Legends client
You’ll find the “interface” section under “settings.”
Search for the “chat” option
Uncheck all the boxes to disable all chats
At that point, you won’t be able to see any messages from players in your games.
