MK 1 Denuvo DRM Software Backlash – Why Does the DRM Matter?

We’re days away from the release of a new Mortal Kombat title. MK 1 will be launching soon, the title is coming to quite a few platforms. However, one aspect of the release has drawn a fair share of backlash, the MK 1 Denuvo DRM. Anti-piracy software is a pretty common source of frustration from players and it seems like Mortal Kombat 1 will feature some of the most infamous anti-cheat and piracy software out there, DRM.

There are different systems that developers use to block their games from piracy and abuse on PC platforms. The Denuvo DRM system is probably the least liked among gamers though. This is software which does its job for anti-cheating and DRM, but causes performance problems for the games themselves. This is why players are so annoyed at how the MK 1 Denuvo DRM is being implemented.

MK 1 Denuvo DRM

The Mortal Kombat 1 Denuvo DRM software was added to the game to combat tampering. It’s a type of digital rights management that has been in use by quite a few developers, including EA. It’s seen serious criticism due to its effect on the performance of games. The majority of games with the software haven’t been cracked either, making it more effective DRM software. It’s even interfered with some emulators in the past.

However, the MK 1 Denuvo DMR is software that’s known to cause further problems. It has an impact on performance. Players have noticed the impact leading to higher load times, worse frame rates, and a worse load on your CPU. In general, it contributed to MK 1 running worse.

Players hoping to get the best performance with the lowest lag out of the game will likely be frustrated with the choice to use MK 1 Denuvo DRM. It’s frustrating that such intrusive software is being used over simpler forms of DRM. However, some games have managed to use this software without too many adverse effects. Hopefully, once we hit the MK 1 release date the impact from this isn’t too intrusive.
