It’s a new era for EA Sports’ football games, with the long-running FIFA series no more. EA FC 24, due out later in September, is EA Sports’ first non-FIFA game, and with it comes a fresh assessment of the real-life footballers whose virtual counterparts star in the game.
Today, EA has revealed the top 24 men and women’s ratings for FC 24, confirming who the developers at EA Sports reckon are the four best footballers on earth.
FC 24 has four players with an overall rating of 91. They are:
Kylian Mbappé 91 Ligue 1 Uber EatsAlexia Putellas 91 Liga FErling Haaland 91 Premier LeagueKevin De Bruyne 91 Premier League
FC 24 lets male and female players play with and against each other in Ultimate Team, the game’s most popular and controversial mode. Women players are not at a natural disadvantage in Ultimate Team, either.
If a male and female player have the same attributes (stats), the same height, and the same mass (governed by weight), the outcomes on the virtual pitch are exactly the same. Attributes are relative to the competition the player plays in. This means Chelsea superstar Sam Kerr brings her 90 overall rating relative to the Women’s Super League into Ultimate Team, and can compete with similarly-rated male players in the mode.
It’s perhaps no surprise to see French forward Mbappé, Spanish World Cup winner Alexia Putellas, and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne top the list given the seasons they’ve had. Mbappé was the top scorer at the 2022 World Cup with eight goals, Putellas won the World Cup, and Haaland and De Bruyne combined to devastating, record-breaking effect as Man City won the Premier League again.
Other highlights from the top 24 list include the eternally world class Lionel Messi, who has a 90-rated card after winning the World Cup with Argentina aged 35. Harry Kane, fresh from his move from Spurs to title-winning candidates Bayern Munich, is rated 90, as is the striker he aims to replace, Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski.
38-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently plies his trade for Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, does not make the top 24.
