EPL Group C has come to a close, giving us the chance to look back on the action of the past week. With some of the best CS:GO teams in the world competing, it’s been an entertaining battle on the server. Let’s see what happened throughout the Brackets!
Upper Bracket
We can’t exactly say the result of the Upper Bracket is a huge surprise. Pre-EPL Group C, it was clear that FaZe and NAVI were the best CS:GO teams here. Both teams passed their tests with flying colours, progressing with ease. When the two came to blows to decide the Quarter Final spot, it was NAVI who went the extra mile.
When we spoke to NAVI jL prior to EPL Group C, he seemed confident about their chances. It seems that confidence was well-earned, with the team looking great on the server. Most importantly, NAVI are smiling again. It’s a dynamic they’ve sorely missed in recent times, but the mood in camp is much improved here. For FaZe, there are still concerns over their consistency, but this remains a job well done.
Lower Bracket
Yeah, this result makes sense. On paper, most would have pegged Fnatic as the third-best team of EPL Group C. That’s exactly how it has panned out, with the team making it through to Playoffs in the Lower Bracket. Don’t let the placement fool you, though. Once they moved down to the Lower Bracket, they never massively struggled. When we spoke to Fnatic dexter before the Group, he claimed that EPL Group C was one of the weaker Groups. From Fnatic’s point of view, that’ll ring absolutely true.
One big positive for Fnatic was the continued evolution of afro. The French AWPer was brought in earlier this year with no expectations, yet he has captivated viewers with his hyper-aggressive style which continues to pay dividends for both him and his team. Even when he’s not putting up huge numbers, he has a style that’s just so fun to watch. Keep an eye on him as Fnatic move into the Round of 16 of ESL Pro League Season 18.
Last Chance Bracket
Let’s get one thing straight. EPL Group C was one of the weakest in the entire tournament, meaning one team making it through was always likely to be somewhat of a wildcard. That rings true, as 9z Team qualified for the Playoffs in the Last Chance Bracket. They overcame 5yclone, who shocked everyone with their surprising performance here.
Both of these teams have plenty to be proud of here, putting up a fight against some of the best CS:GO teams out there. However, it’s 9z Team who have the chance to make a further impact on ESL Pro League Season 18, when the Round of 16 begins later this month.
We move now to EPL Group D, where teams like G2 and Liquid have the chance to strut their stuff on the server.
