Respawn Entertainment, the developer behind Apex Legends has acknowledged the growing concerns regarding the game’s matchmaking system for public matches.
They are now actively looking into the issue and are working towards making the system more balanced. This comes after a surge of feedback from players expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of skill-based matchmaking in public matches.
Community pressure at its finest
The Apex Legends community has been vocal about their experiences, with the Revenant Reborn AMA being raided with matchmaking cries. Many players are feeling that public matches are as competitive as ranked matches. One player commented:
“Ranked being sweaty is normal, in my opinion. Or at least, it should be a significant difference with pubs.”
Another player shared their reluctance to invite friends to play, fearing they would be quickly defeated and discouraged, especially if they haven’t played in recent seasons.
Respawn’s acknowledgment of these concerns is a positive sign for the community. The developer had previously made adjustments to the ranked mode in Season 17 and further refined it in season 18. With this track record, there is hope that the public match matchmaking will also see improvements. Additionally, Respawn has hinted at changes to benefit solo players, addressing another long-standing request from the player base.
