Police Respond to Death Threats Against T1’s Faker

Local Seoul police have been summoned to the headquarters of T1 League of Legends. They allegedly received death threats made against the team’s star mid-laner, Faker. The threats were reported on August 11th, and the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency is actively investigating the incident.

The threat, made online, explicitly stated an intention to “visit the T1 dormitory where Faker belongs and cut his wrist.” The post was initially flagged by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, which is now working with local forces to identify the culprit through IP address tracking. If identified, the police will arrest the perpetrator.

T1 Responds to Faker Death Threats

T1 has publicly responded to the incident, reporting it to the police and condemning the comments as “disgraceful.” The organization is taking measures to ensure the safety of its players throughout the remainder of the LCK playoffs. The LCK itself has also issued a statement, pledging to strengthen security. Things need to be improved around LoL Park for the rest of the season and in the lead-up to Worlds 2023. This claim follows “recent violent incidents and threats of violence.”

Faker and T1 are preparing for their upcoming LCK playoff match against the winner of the match between Gen.G and Hanhwa Life Esports.  This match will have significant implications for each team’s chances of qualifying for Worlds 2023. Faker has only just returned from an arm injury, which caused him to miss the majority of the final month of the regular season.
