Microsoft recently changed its $1 Game Pass offer to last for 14 days instead of one month. The change comes ahead of the launch of Bethesda’s Starfield, which releases day-and-date on Game Pass at the beginning of September.
According to Xbox’s official Game Pass website, the terms for both Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass now say new customers can try out the service for 14 days at $1, and then pay the full monthly price afterward. Xbox Game Pass for Console doesn’t have a $1 trial period and only offers an $11 monthly subscription.
Earlier this year, Microsoft confirmed it would put an end to the monthly $1 Xbox Game Pass Ultimate trial offer, but after raising the price of the subscription, the $1 trial returned.

Microsoft has revamped some of its other online offerings as well. The company recently replaced Xbox Live Gold with Game Pass Core, which is billed as an “evolution”. It’s another subscription where players can play a select collection of games on Xbox for $10 a month or $60 a year. The list includes Forza Horizon 4, Psychonauts 2, and Halo 5: Guardians.
A new carbon black Xbox Series S with 1TB of storage will be released on September 1 and is perfect for storing digital Xbox Game Pass games. It’ll cost $350 and comes just in time for Starfield, which launches on September 6.
