It has been a reunion of sorts at the top of the PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) Indonesia Standings. Zuxxy and Luxxy, after leaving Bigetron earlier this year have managed to reclaim their title as the best of Indonesia with a stunning first-place victory for Persija EVOS at the PMPL Indonesia Fall Split 2023.
The twins have been one of the most powerful duos in the history of PUBG Mobile esports. Known as the Tachibana twins, they were a part of the Bigetron lineup which were crowned the 2019 PUBG Mobile world champions. Over the past year, though, the twins and Bigetron have struggled but one of them are back at the top of the table.
A tough year for Indonesia’s favorite PUBG Mobile duo, but the start of something big?
Zuxxy and Luxxy have been competing professionally since 2018. The duo initially used to play the battle royale title Rules of Survival, before making the jump to PUBG Mobile. In PUBG Mobile, they were able to cement their dominance early on with a victory in Indonesia’s first national championship with Bigetron back in 2018.
Since then, they haven’t looked back. They went on to become the 2019 world champions and were also completely dominant in the SEA scene in 2020. While 2021 turned out to be a decent season for the duo and Bigetron, it was 2022 when their performance really started to decline.
The year went horribly for the once-dominant Bigetron. Even with roster changes, Bigetron couldn’t manage a podium finish in any of the tournaments they played. In fact, in the PMGC 2022, they finished a low 26th position.
It was clear that something was wrong with the team and the love affair between the Tachibana twins and Bigetron came to an end. They went on to join Persija EVOS, another Indonesian powerhouse alongside former Bigetron teammate Microboy.
In the Spring Season, the new team struggled a bit with inconsistent performances coming in seventh place at the PMPL Indonesia and 13th in the PMSL.
The PMPL Indonesia Fall Split, however, has been a complete turnaround for the squad. They were dominant across both weeks of the Fall Split, with aggressive pushes and conservative zone rotations, putting together the performance their fans expected.
They edged out the likes of PMSL SEA Spring champions Alter Ego to take the victory. The next stop for the team is the PMSL Fall where they will be able to show that the performance wasn’t a fluke and they are here to fight for titles again.
