ViewSonic has announced its X2-4K LED projector designed for Microsoft’s Xbox Series X/S consoles launch in the US next month for $1,599.99.
In a press release, ViewSonic said the projector is the first to receive Microsoft’s “Designed for Xbox” badge. Microsoft announced the “Designed for Xbox” program back in 2020, shortly before the release of its ninth-generation consoles, aimed at working with third-party manufacturers to ensure its accessories, such as headsets and monitors, are compatible with the Xbox Series X/S.
The X2-4K is a short-throw projector capable of producing up to a 100-inch display when placed roughly five feet away from your wall, with a max refresh rate of 240Hz. It features two HDMI ports. Unfortunately, the HDMI ports are 2.0 and not 2.1. This means if you want to play Xbox games at 4K resolution, your framerate will cap at 60Hz. In contrast, to play comptaible games at a 120Hz refresh rate, you will need to adjust the resolution to 1440p.
Most projectors will work with the Xbox Series X/S, but ViewSonic is touting the fact its projector is designed for and compatible with the ninth generation of Xbox home consoles, adding it “was developed to be considered a true gaming projector”. ViewSonic further noted the X2-4K “went through 63 tests conducted by Team Xbox to ensure ultimate console compatibility and is designated as the world’s first ‘Designed for Xbox’ certified projector”.
