The 6 Best Players ahead of LEC 2023 Summer Split
The 6 Best Players ahead of LEC 2023 Summer Split

The League of Legends European Championship (LEC) is resuming with the start of the 2023 Summer Split. There have been a couple of changes in the mid-season break which will inevitably shake things up as fans get prepared for another explosive split.

There are some players that have shown over the last two splits their worth and how important they have been to their team overall. These six players shine brightest from a combination of their individual mechanics, game awareness, and how significantly they impact each game they compete in. When it comes to any bet on League of Legends, these individuals should be your main choice. Also, make sure to look particularly closely at some of the new entries, as they might become the superstar for your fantasy League.

Best LEC Players in LEC 2023 Summer

Photon – Team Vitality

Even though Vitality only finished 4th last split, Photon was the most consistent top laner. He was delivering consistent performances and was a big pressure point for the team. According to Games of Legends, he is topping across many different stats, especially the individual ones like Gold per minute and CS per minute.

If Vitality wants to make it to the LEC Finals and have a shot at Worlds 2023, they will have to rely on Photon once again and put him in a position to become a carry player. The top lane player pool is competitive so it will be hard to stand out from the rest but if there is one guy who can do that, it must be Photon.

Elyoya – MAD Lions

Elyoya continues to be the leading player when it comes to the European jungle pool. Despite MAD Lions having a bad showing at MSI 2023, the Spanish player was still delivering high-level performances and he looked like one of the few who could really match the eastern players.

One of Elyoya’s greatest strengths is his ability to remain relevant regardless of the meta and how his teammates perform. If you know MAD Lions is finding success, it’s likely because Elyoya is making the magic happen. He can play both utility champions and put his teammates in a position to carry, or he can play high-tempo, aggressive junglers to build the leads for himself. Knowing that MAD is already inside the LEC finals, the team will have less pressure this summer split. When it’s the right time, however, he will be ready to lead his squad to success.

Yike – G2 Esports

Speaking of top-tier junglers, we must praise Yike and his gameplay shown so far this season. The Swedish player is a rookie but he never looked like one in the past few months. On the contrary, Yike is taking a carry role within G2 and was one of the few reasons why the team was able to fight BLG at MSI in London.

By looking at the stats among junglers, he’s head and shoulders above everyone else across multiple metrics. G2 understood his potential and has been playing in a way to accommodate that. With carry champions still having a strong presence in professional play, Yike will continue to be a crucial element in the next few months, hoping he can carry G2 both domestically and internationally.

Nisqy – MAD Lions

Given the mid lane meta of the season, it’s tough for players to show their worth since they are usually forced to have a supportive playstyle with mostly utility picks. And when it comes to playing for his own team, Nisqy is probably one of, if not the best player to do so in the LEC.

He’s not the usual 1v9 player you might see from someone like prime Caps, but you can be sure he will do everything in his power to give his teammates the resources needed to take over the game. That said, we’ve started to see Nisqy stepping up as a carry player if needed, showing how he has been evolving more over the season.

crownie – Team BDS

For those who have been following the LEC for a while, they probably know how much crownie deserves to be in the LEC. The Slovenian ADC has always been a talented player which was often gated by the teams he played, but Team BDS this year finally gave him a team where he can shine and show his real worth.

Even though he wasn’t able to win the LEC Spring title, Crownie was still the most consistent marksman player within Europe in 2023 so far. He might not be the one with the most explosive performances (Hans Sama), but crownie is the backbone of his team, making sure he can carry his team to the finish line. If Team BDS can keep up the growth shown the last split, BDS might be a title favorite for the Summer split.

Mikyx – G2 Esports

Hylissang was supposed to take the spot as the best support going into the LEC Summer Split but Mikyx’s late performances convinced me to push him to the No. 1 spot. Hylissang still has better playmaking, but he still has far too many “Hylissang” moments which demoted him from the top spot.

On the other hand, G2’s support player has had solid games on both enchanter and engage supports. Mikyx has been a key in the team’s overall functioning so far, especially in the mid-to-late game transition, setting up the plays correctly and doing a good job in protecting his carries. If we will see G2 win through macro, it will likely be thanks to Mikyx.

Best LEC Players in LEC 2022 Spring

BrokenBlade

Starting off our list, we have the Turkish top laner Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik. After playing for Schalke04 last season, he joined G2 Esports as their starting top laner, showing off how much he has improved over the years. Despite a rough start by the team, he has been a key to their success during the 2022 Spring Split. He has the highest damage output out of all top laners, and his stats are top 3 or top 4 in almost all metrics. (CS/min, KP, Gold/min)

But what makes BrokenBlade such a valuable player for me is his flexibility. In a meta where most top laners default to bruisers and tanks, BrokenBlade has played almost any type of champion, including the more “unorthodox” ones, like Corki and Akshan. His adaptability can be an insane weapon coming into the latter stages of the split, especially if G2 is willing to give him favorable matchups he can abuse. BB is one of the best LEC Players when it comes to the top lane role, so keep an eye out on him during this season.

Malrang

Fans were being skeptical about Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong coming into the LEC. Everyone thought he was a downgrade to Inspired, who joined Evil Geniuses over in North America. Even in our LEC Power Rankings 2022, we thought Rogue was downgraded in the offseason. To everyone’s surprise, however, Malrang has been getting used to the European environment so quickly that his play has been top-tier right off the bat.

While his stats may not be super exciting, Malrang’s supportive and utility playstyle is perfect for a team like Rogue who has enough firepower in other roles. In fact, he tops in terms of KDA and Average Vision Score by a long margin (1.85, 2nd place is 1.62). Acting as a bridge for his team, the Korean player ensures his team gets the resources needed to take over the game and win.

We’ll have to see if Malrang can also show his super carry performances in the future, but so far, he’s making people forget about losing the best jungler from the LEC.

Humanoid

Marek “Humanoid” Brázda left MAD Lions to join Fnatic ahead of the 2022 season. With that being said, changing the team did not change Humanoid’s individual level of play, as he was already considered the best mid laner in the LEC last year. It’s insane how the Czech mid laner has been reigning in almost every metric. From damage output, Gold Diff @15min, Gold/min, Humanoid is the number 1 in all these departments.

As a result, laning wise, the FNC midlaner is projected to become the “Chovy” of the LEC. He might not be as clean, but the individual potential is there. The organization definitely made the best pick-up possible in the offseason: we’ll see whether this is the year Fnatic returns to glory.

Upset

Speaking of Fnatic, we cannot forget about Elias “Upset” Lipp. Last year, he carried Fnatic on his back the whole season. Now that he has an insane roster of players around him, Upset will be having the time of his life on the team. Individually, Upset is the best laning ADC in the LEC, topping the XP@15 and CS Diff @15. In particular, he farms so well that he gapped the second one (Carzzy) by 9 cs. In such a high level of play, this is pretty insane.

Not only that, but Upset also packs the highest KDA out of all the players in the LEC. The way he positions in fights and never dies is pretty insane: an average of 0.4 deaths per game is not something common you see everyday. With some of the best LEC players like Upset and Humanoid on the roster, Fnatic can only aim for victory.

Comp

Out of all the players in the LEC this year, Comp is by far the most surprising one. Joining Rogue to replace Hans Sama from Vitality, no one expected him to become the best performing ADC in the league. Only second to Upset in terms of laning phase, Comp really shines in the later stages of teamfights.

The Greek ADC always delivers when he gets the resources: he’s the number 1 in gold/min, KP, dmg/min and gold diff@15 min out of all the bot laners in the LEC. Yes, Rogue is still without a loss in its scoreboard, but it is also true that Comp has been playing phenomenally so far, as his value skyrockets in the LEC player rankings 2022. Rogue has found two worthy substitutes of Hans Sama and Inspired: will this be the year Rogue not only wins the regular split but also the playoffs? Only time will tell us… but for now, Comp and Rogue are the best team in Europe.
