Street Fighter 6 is one of the hottest games around right now, and it’s already making an impact on fighting game esports. The title is getting another big tournament this week with the Street Fighter 6 Legacy Showdown!
This new tournament is a fresh Twitch Rivals event, great for seeing some of the streamers who have been on SF 6 recently fight it out in a fuller tournament. It’s a Street Fighter tournament with a bit of a different format to your standard events though. We’ll run you through how the tournament is going to work and all the major players that are showing up for it.
Street Fighter 6 Legacy Showdown
The new tournament is set to be a Twitch Rivals event, an ongoing series that holds events for streamers to compete directly on Twitch. This Street Fighter 6 event is part of Super Ultra Combo Week, a larger celebration of everything Street Fighter for the launch of the latest game.
The tournament is going to be running over June 7-8 on Twitch. It’s got a particularly unique format for Street Fighter though. This isn’t a one-on-one tournament like is the norm, instead, it’s a team base event. Competitors are split up into groups of 5 players, competing as a team. King of similar to the Street Fighter League which also runs in teams.
The tournament will start out as a Group Stage. All of the teams are split into two different groups. The top 2 teams will advance forward and all remaining teams are knocked down. Another unique rule here is that winning players have to stay on in the team fight, and cannot change characters. Competitors will have to find a real Street Fighter 6 character to main by the time things startup.
Here come many new challengers! 💪

The next round is the Finals for the Street Fighter 6 Legacy Showdown. This is a direct single-elimination bracket. Once a team loses, they’re out for good. No losers bracket here. There’s a $50,000 prize pool here too, so a lot is at stake. The competitors are a fun mix of current players and some of SF’s biggest-ever contenders.
Teams
That’s the format, as a Twitch Rivals style tournament though, it’s the names and streamers active at the event that is going to make or break the tournament! The teams at the Legacy Showdown are named after some favourite old Street Fighter games, so you can see where competitors stand on which is the best fighting game of all time. Although, some of the teams haven’t quite gotten with the naming convention. These are the teams and competitors at the Street Fighter 6 Legacy Showdown.
