Fresh off the heels of a brand-new season launching in Fortnite, we’ve got a new tournament taking place this week! It’s going to be the first major Fortnite LAN hosted in the UK, taking place in Scotland. The tournament already has some of the best Fortnite players taking part. While the FNCS is a while away, this is going to be our first look at how the new season of the game is playing competitively.

Red Bull Contested is a new Fortnite tournament being hosted by Red Bull. One special thing about the event is its location. It’s in the UK. We’ve had plenty of British players show up for international LANs and take part in the FNCS events like Major 2. However, this is the first major LAN taking place in the country. It’s even got a €100,000 prize pool on offer too.
The tournament is a rare Fortnite Solo event. It’s got players fighting without their teams. They’ve got to rely on only themselves and their skill alone to win. The format also has a unique edge with a bit of a weird points system at work.
The tournament will start off with a standard point system, where both placement and eliminations count towards getting up the leaderboard. For the last four rounds of Red Bull Contested though, there’s a twist. We’re then getting four rounds where eliminations give double points! Placing well will still help. However, it’ll be elims that really make the final difference for ranking. Players being less aggressive will lose out for these final rounds.
