Persona 3 Reload the long-awaited Persona 3 remake, has officially been announced with a 2024 release window. It is currently confirmed for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, and it will also arrive on Xbox Game Pass when it is released to the wild.
The gameplay trailer revealed a visual style that very much resembles Persona 5, and we got a glimpse of how the original Persona 3 from 2006 now looks in 2023 with a bunch of improvements in tow.
Persona 3 Reload and the spin-off tactics game Persona 5 Tactica unfortunately leaked before the Xbox Games Showcase, and it just continued an unfortunate leak cycle for this Persona 3 remake. Back in April 2023, a sizzle reel leaked that showed footage of the Persona 3 remake and Jet Set Radio.
The original Persona 3 was credited for transforming the series with its calendar-based structure, social links, and other additions when it first released. It was followed by Persona 4 and Persona 5, with each game being more popular than the last.
In our Persona 3 review from 2007, we said, “Amazingly deep, with tons of replayability in both the dungeon crawling and social link directions, Persona 3 is an incredibly engaging title. The RPG stumbles in a few ways that might make some fans of the genre stay away, because of the lack of full party control and the confusion that can surround the Personas. However, if you can put up with these issues, you’ll find an enjoyable title that will show itself as one of the better games released on the PS2 this year.”
A Persona 3 remake became a hotly-requested item by fans due to how outdated the original had become. Now it’s finally here.
