The PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2023, one of the biggest esports tournaments in the battle royale title’s roadmap, is set to return to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 11 to 16. With just a few weeks to go, Tencent has confirmed the device the players in the tournament will be using – and it’s the HONOR Magic5 Pro.
Gamers8 is one of the world’s largest esports and gaming festivals, first launched in 2022. This year, it’s taking place from July to September 2023 in Riyadh. There will be a lot of esports action in the event, with a total prize pool of $45 million up for grabs across multiple titles – one of which is PUBG Mobile.
Players to use the HONOR Magic5 Pro at the PMWI 2023
Gamers8 announced in a press release today that it had partnered with Shenzhen-based smartphone brand, HONOR. The biggest part of this collaboration is that the HONOR Magic5 Pro will be the smartphone for the PMWI 2023.
Mr. Turki Alfawzan, CEO of the Saudi Esports Federation, said:
“Connectivity is essential in the modern world, and we are delighted to welcome HONOR to the Gamers8: The Land of Heroes roster as a Main and Official Smartphone Partner. The partnership agreement will see a series of summer activities and activations take place that both parties are looking forward to immensely. Gaming fans in particular will enjoy watching the PUBG MOBILE World Invitational tournament taking place on HONOR phones – the reaction to this news from the competition’s professional players has been unanimously positive.”
The HONOR Magic5 Pro was released earlier this year as a flagship product by the grand. With an OLED Screen and 120Hz refresh rate, the device would be ideal for PUBG Mobile as well.
Most PUBG Mobile pro players prefer using iPhones to compete in tournaments. They will likely be given the HONOR Magic5 Pro to adjust to the new device when they land in Saudi Arabia a few days before the PMWI 2023 is set to begin.
