The fighting game community has tons of tournaments at the moment, including a big one for Sweden this weekend with a new edition of Headstomper. The tournament is the latest in the series that’s been running since 2015. Headstomper 2023 looks set to be an exciting return for the event after a little while off. This tournament is covering a good deal of the best fighting games.
Headstomper 2023 will feature four major tournaments but loads more in side games. You can see the top Swedish players for Tekken, Guilty Gear, and more. This is everything that’s going on through the Headstomper 2023 event.
Headstomper 2023
Headstomper 2023 is taking place in Malmö Sweden, over June 9-11. Through the three-day event, we’ll see tournaments with pools and brackets for a number of major fighting games. These are the events you can catch at the tournament.
Street Fighter 6
Street Fighter 6s is still early in its life, with a lot of players still getting to grips with the best SF characters for beginners. However, for pro-level players we’ve already got a number of major tournaments on the horizon. We’ve already seen events at DreamHack and this weekend is going to see Headstomper getting an outing for the new fighter. It’s got a prize pool of $2,258 to be split across the best out of 211 players competing. Those attending include Mister Crimson and EndingWalker.
Tekken 7
Tekken 7 might not be as new as SF 6, but it’s still got a decent tournament with a $2,504.76 prize at this event. There are nearly 150 players showing up for the double-elimination bracket. As part of the Tekken World Tour, this tournament is attracting some of Europe’s biggest talents in the game and it’s one to watch over the weekend.
Guilty Gear Strive
Guilty Gear Strive is always a fun event at tournaments like this, and this tournament is part of the Arc World Tour 2023! That means players are competing for the $2,086 prize here but also points for the overall season for AWT.
Granblue Fantasy Versus
The last of the major tournaments at Headstomper 2023 is Granblue Fantasy Versus. Out of the top fighting games, this one doesn’t get quite as much play at major tournaments, but it’s taking a central role here. This event has a bit of a smaller prize pool at $642, but there are 60 players showing up to compete.
Side Tournaments
Those are the big events at the Headstomper 2023 tournament, but there are plenty of smaller side tournaments at the event too. This is where we’ll see some of the best fighting games of all time represented, even if they’re not the latest in their series. These are the side events at Headstomper
