COD Champs Week is Here, But Which Teams Should You Watch?
COD Champs Week is Here, But Which Teams Should You Watch?

It’s the final week of the 2023 Call of Duty League season. In a matter of days, the CDL Championship will be upon us, with eight of the greatest teams in Call of Duty esports making their way to the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas to take to the grandest stage. There’s a prize pool worth $2.3 million up for grabs, and the ultimate victor will snatch a share worth $1 million – but which team will that most likely be?

It has been an intense year that has produced the highest highs and the lowest lows. From the New York Subliners becoming the first team since 2020 to win more than one Major in a year to the London Royal Ravens failing at every single post and dropping out of the tournament on a record low, it has been busy. We’ve seen controversies and scandals, we’ve witnessed the rise of some incredible rookie players, and we’ve followed this League every inch of the way.

And now, it’s all coming to a close.

Which Team Will Win CDL Champs?

There’s nothing more significant than the Call of Duty League Championship in the COD esports world. It’s the pinnacle – the ultimate stage where champions are crowned every single year. Last year, it was the LA Thieves that lifted the trophy on Call of Duty Vanguard, but it’s a whole new game, a new skill set, and a whole host of players with a fresh chance at securing the most sought-after trophy in Call of Duty esports.

There are eight teams that have secured their place in the CDL Championship tournament:

Atlanta FaZe
OpTic Texas
New York Subliners
Toronto Ultra
LA Thieves
Minnesota ROKKR
Boston Breach
Seattle Surge

We’d like to say that anyone has a fair chance at winning the Call of Duty League this year, but as always, there’s a split between underdog sides and top-tier teams. For the majority of the community, an OpTic Texas victory would be the crowning moment of the season. When Major 3 and Major 4 wrapped up, OpTic Texas sat in second place, missing the top prize by just a few points. It has been a remarkable season for OpTic, and the team has set some records, but that victorious moment has remained out of reach.

Unfortunately, OpTic Texas isn’t the favourite team to win the CDL Championship. Instead, those interested in Call of Duty betting recognise that the favourite is Atlanta FaZe, followed closely behind by Toronto Ultra, then the New York Subliners, and then OpTic Texas.

LA Thieves, Minnesota Rokkr, Boston Breach, and Seattle Surge flesh out the remainder of the roster (in that order).

It’s All Going Down

Here are the opening matches (and our predictions) for the 2023 Call of Duty League Championship:

Atlanta FaZe (w) v Seattle Surge
Toronto Ultra (w) v LA Thieves
OpTic Texas (w) v Boston Breach
New York Subliners (w) v Minnesota Rokkr

They’re all worth watching, as there are some remarkable players representing these teams in Las Vegas. It’s the best way possible to end what has been one of the best seasons in the history of the Call of Duty League. Will you be watching?
