With the CS:GO season coming to a close, we’ve got one final showdown left before the player break begins. Heroic vs Vitality will decide who takes the final tournament of the season, at the conclusion of the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023.
Heroic’s Last Chance
It seems incredible given their consistency, but Heroic are yet to win a tournament in 2023. Their last win came at the BLAST Premier World Final 2022, and there have been a series of heartbreaking losses ever since. You have to give credit to their enduring mental state. Despite all of the near-victories, they’ve never once looked totally defeated coming into a new tournament. They lose one, and it only makes them hungrier for the next. They’ve even resorted to joking about their infamous chokes online. If it helps them cope, who are we to judge?
Their BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023 Playoff run began with an immediate Semi-Final match against Imperial. On paper, the Danes should win that matchup with ease. But FalleN and his team brought it far closer than it ever should’ve been, and there must have been a part of every Heroic player that believed they were choking again. Heroic did eventually get it over the line in three maps – choke averted.
We could talk all day about the strength of this Heroic line-up. Every single player has the potential to top-frag, and during the last couple of tournaments, it’s been IGL cadiaN who has had to step up in the absence of his misfiring stars. If they’re to have any hope of a victory in the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023, they’ll need the entire team to show up. They’ve already shown that when one or two players go missing in big games, it’s usually the difference between winning and losing. They know the win conditions, and it’s up to them to rise to the occasion.
Three In Three For Vitality?
If Vitality finds victory at the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023, they’ll have won their last three tournaments they’ve entered. It’s remarkable consistency from a team that just a few months were seen as having some way to go before being challengers yet. Given the pieces they have in place, we should’ve seen it coming eventually. You have apEX, the experienced Major-winning IGL, Spinx, the star rifler, ZywOo, one of the best to ever do it, as well as Magisk and dupreeh, two of the most decorated players to ever play the game. They were always going to have their moment in the spotlight, and that time has come.
Considering they were in danger of a swift exit after day one of the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023, Vitality have lived up to their name in Washington. It’s been a resilient display, and every bit deserving of a Grand Final spot. They’re not playing the best CS:GO of their careers – they admit that themselves, but they’re fighting for every round, and getting their rewards for it.
So who takes it? In just about every final they’ve appeared in, we tend to favor Heroic on consistency alone. But something feels different here. The recent experience of Vitality winning multiple tournaments can’t go unnoticed, and we think that’ll give them the edge. We’re taking Vitality as our BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023 winners.
