The Tekken World Tour is already heating up for the 2022 season. The Punishment 2 Tekken World Tour event is one of the biggest for its region and it starts up really soon.

Tekken at Punishment 2

One of May’s biggest events for fighting games is going to be Punishment 2, a May 6th Tekken 7 event. This Tekken World Tour tournament will give players in South America the chance to rise up the rankings and test their skill against the other top players.

This is a one-day event, but the format is big enough to fill keep the shorter duration packed with action. It’s an offline only tournament, with pools followed by a double elimination bracket. 121 players in total will be competing.

The event is going to be a Master tier event in the 2023 Tekken World Tour. This means it makes a pretty big contribution to the overall rankings, it’s a chance for players to get their names on the leaderboard nice and early. We’ve already had events at EVO Japan, but this is the first for this region.

Prize Pool

The tournament will have a prize pool of $5,000 USD in total. It’s also contributing to a wider circuit though, so there’s a chance this will lead to even higher prizes further down the line. This is how the prize pool breaks up for players.

1st -$2,500
2nd – $1,000
3rd – $650
4th – $350
5-6th – $150
7-8th – $100

The Tekken Punishment 2 tournament has over 100 players taking part. There’s a handful of players that stand out to watch at the tournament though.

Abel del Maestro is one of the strongest Peruvian players to compete in Tekken. He’s won multiple Masters events in the pasts, including a Collision fighting game tournament. Sergie Mazter

Sergie Mazter is an up-and-coming player who is climbing in the rankings. He’s performed strongly at regional competitions and won a previous Punishment against Abel del Maestro. He might be able to repeat that win here.

How to Watch Punishment 2

As a Tekken World Tour event, there’s loads of reasons to check this tournament out. It’s running in a bit of a lull for events. That makes it a great opportunity to check out the talent in other regions of the Tekken World Tour. It’s all going to be streaming on the official HadoukenDojoGamer channel, where you can catch the entire tournament.
