IGN was recently invited to Wizards of the Coast for a sneak peek on a whole host of Dungeons & Dragons products slated for release later this year. If you’re a fellow dice-roller, then here’s everything you can expect in 2023:
Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants
Release Date: August 15, 2023
This upcoming sourcebook will focus on lore and game options involving giants and is narrated by Bigby, a wizard known for his magic hands, and Diancastra, a giant demigoddess. With over 70 stat blocks, more than 30 new magical items, and even some player options for incorporating giants in a campaign. For a chapter-by-chapter breakdown of everything you’ll find in the book, check out our full breakdown.
The Practically Complete Guide to Dragons
Release Date: August 15, 2023
Out on the same day as Glory of the Giants, the Practically Complete Guide to Dragons is a 128-page sourcebook that will replace and expand upon the old dragon guides found in D&D. Interestingly, this expansion will contain “no rules, just dragons and lore,” and so won’t be focused on game options. For more information about what you can expect to find, take a look at our full article.
Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk
Release Date: September 19, 2023
This campaign book will return players to Phandalin from the 2014 start set adventure, and was described to IGN as a “traditional fantasy adventure” that will explore the mystery of the obelisks found across Faerun. The adventure is intended for starting characters, and will get a group of PCs from level 1 to 12. You can find everything we know so far in our breakdown.
Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse
Release Date: October 17, 2023
Returning to the Outlands, Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse is a three-book package that reintroduces the iconic multiversal setting which originally debuted in 1994. The slipcase comes with three books: Sigil and the Outlands, Morte’s Planar Parade, and Turn of Fortune’s Wheel, which you can read more about in our breakout article.
The Deck of Many Things
Release Date: November 14, 2023
Capping off the year, we’ve got The Deck of Many Things, a collection of books and cards that expands upon the classic magical item found through D&D’s storied history. The set comes with a pack of 66 illustrated cards, and two books: The Book of Many Things and the Card Reference Guide, which you can learn more about in our full article.
And there you have it! That’s a complete list of every D&D expansion we’ve got coming in 2023. For more news coming out of our WotC headquarters visit, check out the recent price increase announcement.
