After their win against G2, we had the chance to interview BLG Xun as the team makes the top 4 at their first international appearance.

The Chinese jungler was a crucial factor in BLG’s victory, playing as the main engager for the team in three out of the four games. When asked about his performance, Xun felt great overall, even though he still thinks he made a few mistakes.
This is the first international appearance for BLG, having crawled their way from the play-in stage at the start of the month. While they played against many different teams throughout the tournament, this was their first encounter with a LEC team. Xun was quite impressed by G2 Esports, claiming their teamfighting was good and the way they managed their resources was well done.
Even though it wasn’t enough to win, Yike put up a great showing against BLG and Xun spoke highly of G2’s jungler:
“I think he did a really great job. He was able to pull off plays and contribute positively in all of the games played,” he added.
After a thrilling Game 1, BLG failed to push their lead in Game 2 and allowed the enemies to get one game and draw the score. Despite losing the advantage, the Chinese team was able to quickly adjust themselves to close out the series in the two following games. While teams may have issues adjusting their mental after losing, it wasn’t the case for BLG:
“Our team doesn’t really struggle after losing a fight or falling behind. We just focus on doing what we can with our team comp and see how the enemy team plays,” he said.
BLG is ready to fight
The series saw BLG play all games on the red side. Even after losing Game 2, they decided to choose the same side in the following game. While teams usually look to switch sides to try to shake things up, Xun revealed the team felt better playing on that side: “We thought it was more beneficial against G2 specifically.”
Now that BLG advances to the next round, they will face the winner between Gen.G Esports and Cloud9. BLG have never played against a Korean team thus far, while they have already beaten C9 in the first round of the upper bracket. Although Xun thinks it’s better for the team to play against the North American team, he also believes Gen.G are likely going to win the series and face them in the next round.
BLG was one of the first teams to come to London and after spending two weeks in the city, Xun said he got “more or less used to it”. Food has been a hot topic recently so we also asked him about it.
“Honestly, I’ve eaten mostly Chinese food. I know Fish and Chips is quite popular here in London but I haven’t had the chance to eat it yet. It’s definitely something I want to try in the next few days.”
Even though BLG is the second seed from the LPL, Xun is sure they can fight the top teams from the LCK and their domestic rival JD Gaming:
“I think we’re a really strong team and [I] hope our team can deliver more great performances for the fans.”
