Apex Legends Season 17 has launched recently, with a few adjustments like the new Apex Legends Hero Ballistic. However, it’s not without its problems. One major alteration has been the Apex ranked mode changes with Season 17. A player has quickly discovered the flaws in this system though. They’ve got to the top rank in Apex without any kills. Reaching the very pinnacle of the game, with no kills in Apex Legends Season 17.
Apex Player Gets to Top Rank Without a Single Kill
The new system for Apex Legends Ranked mode has a few differences and quirks. One of the major ones is that there’s no tiered entry fee in points to enter games. This means you won’t lose points for a game with low placement and no kills.
The Season 17 ranked mode changes mean there is very little risk when in competitive games. You cannot gain points, but you won’t lose any either. A player has already taken this as far as it can go, getting to the top rank with no kills in Apex Legends.

Sweet has managed to get to the highest rank in the game over 50 games. They won 5 of those games and placed highly in the rest. They also dealt zero damage and got zero kills. They died 48 times but got to the highest rank without much effort.
If this system catches on, pretty much anyone can get to the highest rank in Apex Legends.
What Needs Fixing?
The change that is needed feels obvious, bring back entry fee. There needs to be a consequence of a bad game. You need to be able to lose. The current system means anyone with enough patience can progress to the top ranks. That basically makes it meaningless. Pretty much every Battle Royale features entry fee. You’ll see this in the Fortnite ranked mode along with other titles like Rocket League. Apex needs to fix their ranked mode, and quickly unless they want the mode to lose its meaning for the whole season.
