Overwatch’s latest update has introduced a few cool features into the game, including a new map. The Overwatch map Talantis is one of the cooler things introduced, alongside some much-needed fixes for Lifeweaver. However, Overwatch’s first community made map has a few problems. It’s kind of broken.
The New Overwatch map was constructed in a unique way. It was made by the Overwatch community, or at least designed by them before Blizzard polished it up into what we got. The decoration is a lot sparser than the proper maps, but it’s a unique area with a fun different geometry design for players to use. It’s a nice change of pace, even if it’s not a map coming to the main game modes. Already though players have discovered that the new map has some major problems.
New Overwatch Map Talantis is Broken
Players have been quick to discover that the map can lead to entirely random deaths. Players walk out of their spawn points and immediately die. Just from the very world around them.
There doesn’t seem to be a huge pattern to the bugs. In some, it’s been in the use of activities while leaving spawn. Others have managed the same without the same effect though. The deaths happy pretty much entirely randomly.
The Talantis map is only a community thing. It’s available in the alternative game modes, not competitive. This means you won’t see it showing up in the Overwatch League esports inaugural weekend this week! Instead, it’s just for fun.
That does mean the bugs aren’t going to be as big of a problem. Although, it’s still a little strange that players are getting killed like this. The map is only going to be available for a week due to its limited nature. We probably shouldn’t expect to see any major updates, the map will likely be in this state for its entire duration in the game.
