The PUBG Mobile Super League (PMSL) Spring 2023 Finals are all set to take place between April 14 – 16. After a three-week-long Regular Season, the top 16 teams have advanced to the Grand Finals. They will be competing from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a share of the $250,000 prize pool and slots in the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2023.
The PMSL Spring Season is a historic event in the history of PUBG Mobile Esports. For the first time, Tencent introduced a semi-franchised system and partnered with 15 teams across SEA. The other five teams qualified through national qualifiers.
PMSL Grand Finals – Key Narratives and Team Storylines
The PMSL League Stage featured three weeks of exhilarating action but there was one storyline which struck out. That was the domination by Thai teams. There are four Thai teams in the PMSL, and three of them wrapped up in the top-three positions. These were FaZe Clan, HAIL Esports, and Vampire Esports.
Bacon Time were the odd Thai team out as they placed sixth. The team had a devastating week one, placing 15th, but made a comeback in weeks two and three to climb up the leaderboards.
Another interesting story from the league stage is the resurgence of Indonesia’s RRQ. The organization is a household name in PUBG Mobile esports, having won the first international competition for the game back in 2018. The team were consistent across all three weeks to finish in fifth place.
Lastly, it was Bigetron which made the headlines. The 2019 world champions had a devastating 2022 season and brought in an almost revamped lineup for the PMSL. It didn’t prove to be enough, though, as the team narrowly qualified for the PMSL Grand Finals. They were just a glimmer of their past glory finishing in second last and third last palace respectively in Weeks two and three.
Fans will be hoping for a resurgence in the grand finals, but on the back of this performance, it seems unlikely to happen.
The PMSL Grand Finals will happen from April 14 to 16. The teams will begin with the Bonus Points they have earned in the League Stage. They will play 18 matches (six per day) to determine the champions.
The top teams from the PMSL Spring 2023 will advance to the PMWI in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The exact number of teams who will qualify hasn’t been revealed yet. Vampire, being the defending PMWI champions, are one of the favorites to make it to Saudi Arabia again.
Fans can tune into all the action on the official PUBG Mobile Esports YouTube channel. While the Bonus Points Standings offer a boost to the top of the table, it’s still too soon to rule out any team. Even in each week of the PMSL, some teams put up a surprising performance. The Grand Finals should be no exception.
