If you play LoL, you probably have heard of the Legacy skins. But what are they exactly, and why are they special? Find out everything about the legacy skins.
Legacy skins in LoL – What are they?
There are a lot of skins in League of Legends. At the start of 2023, we have around 1,500 unique skins in the game, and we can only expect the number to grow throughout the upcoming years. While some skins are available all year round, some can only appear for short periods. After the period ends, they might be no longer available: some until the next event or year, others forever.
Regardless, when opening Hextech chests in LoL, you might find some skins labeled “Legacy Content”: those are all the rare skins that are only available for limited periods and then are added to the Legacy Vault. At that point, they can no longer be bought.
How to find the Legacy skins?
Once the skins are placed in the Legacy Vault, the only way to unlock them is through the Hextech Crafting or the Mystery Skin Gifts. Some of them can become available again for sale during special events: they are either sold individually or in bundles.
With Hextech Crafting, though, you will have to hope for the right skins since they are randomly chosen. You’ll need lots of luck to receive the skin you wish for. There are two different types of
Hextech Chest: 125 RP (50% skin shard)
Masterwork Chest: 165 RP (70% skin shard)
