Team BDS vs MAD – LEC Spring Finals 2023 Preview

It has been one hell of a ride for Team BDS and MAD Lions. The Swiss-based organization proved everyone wrong this split, not only taking first place at the end of the regular split but also going undefeated throughout Groups stage and playoffs, beating the enemies in dominant fashion. Considering the expectations at the start of the season, no one expected Team BDS to come out on top and the favorites to win LEC Spring 2023.

On the other hand, you have MAD Lions, who have regained impressive form after starting out terribly in the regular split. By going through the losers’ bracket, they crawled their way to the top, beating Vitality and G2 Esports in the process. That said, the only way for them to go to MSI is by winning the LEC Spring Finals, since G2 have already locked in their spot in the play-in stage.

It will come down to mid and jungle

There are many key points in this series that might swing in one team’s favor. The first and most important one is the mid and jungle synergy, which is MAD Lions’ main strength. Elyoya and Nisqy are the main reason why MAD got to this point: the two have always found ways to punish the enemy mid laner with ganks and actions, while also getting priority for the objectives’ spawn and pushing their lead.

BDS will have to prove they won’t bleed out as much advantage early on as Vitality did in their series. Mid laner nuc and jungler Sheo will have to find ways to either match the 2v2 situations or nuc will have to absorb pressure alone.

How will BDS respond to MAD’s jungle-mid duo?

Depending on what BDS chooses to do with Elyoya and Nisqy, their game plan will change accordingly. Most likely, they will try to focus on the bottom lane and take control of dragons, as they did so far. BDS will be looking to ban out some of the early skirmishing mid laners for Nisqy, so MAD don’t get as much leeway.

As long as BDS are able to get good scaling picks, they might be fine giving up some of the early objectives since MAD’s team comps usually are weaker later on. AoE damage carries like Jinx, Aphelios, as well as Kennen, will be highly contested.

Adam vs Chasy – clash between tops

Chasy had strong performances in their last series, which inevitably raise the expectations coming into the series against Adam. The French player has been a vital element in BDS’ victory, always willing to give up his own resources to help the team. It’s likely he will do this again, but BDS will have to make sure Adam is given good matchups he can take over.

LEC Spring 2023 Finals Predictions

It’s a tough call to make a clear prediction on this series. On one hand, you have BDS who have looked strong throughout the whole split and are looking like favorites. On the other, you have MAD who have pushed through the losers’ bracket and looked more and more convincing the more series they played.

The series will likely be decided on who can capitalize on their key strengths better: MAD Lions on their jungle-mid 2v2 and mid-game skirmishes, BDS in the late game teamfights. Based on what we’ve seen so far, Team BDS might have higher chances since they will likely get better drafts and respect Nisqy and Elyoya more than what Vitality did. It might not be a close series in terms of scores, but the games are definitely going to be exciting to watch.

Predictions: BDS 3-1 MAD Lions
