Here are some of the easter eggs you can find in League of Legends that might surprise you: only the real veterans know all of them.
8 League of Legends easter eggs you must know
Nidalee is a “cougar” from all points of view
League of Legends is known for having some special passives and Nidalee is one of the champions with hidden effects. If you’re wondering what the cougar passive does, it essentially grants lower-leveled allies an extra 5 experience points every 5 seconds when Nidalee is nearby. Why? She’s a cougar… in all senses.

Rengar and Kha’Zix – Cat vs Bug
It’s common sense that cats are always on the hunt for bugs. Well, the devs decided to re-create a similar interaction with Rengar and Kha’Zix. When the two are on opposing teams and both champions fully upgrade the passive (Rengar) or their abilities (Kha’Zix), a special quest comes out titled “The Hunt is On!”.
Whoever kills the other first gets an extra upgrade: Rengar gets extra permanent stacks, while Kha’Zix can upgrade all of his 4 abilities (instead of the usual three). Are you ready to hunt?
The Piltover vs Zaun Rivalry
We all know that Vi, Caitlyn, and Jinx have a rather intriguing relationship in Arcane, but Riot already had placed an easter egg inside the game which related to their League lore.
If you see Jinx in the opposing team of Cait or Vi, they will all get cosmetic buffs called “Catch me if you can!”. On top of that, all the champions will one extra gold every time they kill the enemy from the enemy team (Jinx vs Caitlyn and Vi).

Trinity Force deals ‘tons of damage’
If you’ve been playing League of Legends for a long time, you probably remember former Riot Games caster and current game designer David “Phreak” Turley going for Champion spotlights and Patch reviews.
Back then, Phreak used to always mention how Trinity Force used to do “tons of damage” at all times. That brought Riot to adding this small easter egg, allowing you to find the Mythic item in the shop by using those keywords in the shop.
LS, the shopkeeper and the Liandry’s Salesman
If you actively follow the professional LoL scene, you probably know who Nick “LS” De Cesare is. The current streamer and content creator has always been a funny yet sometimes controversial personality, especially when it came to anything related to playing the game.
A few years ago, LS used to be an advocate for the magic damage item Liandry’s Torment, which very few people built in the past. His devotion and perseverance caught Riot’s attention, who decided to turn LS into the “Liandry’s Salesman”.
By searching “last shadow” in the shop, you will find Liandry’s Anguish popping up on your screen. Alongside this item, you will also see Morellonomicon, another item that caused a lot of controversies and that LS has always disliked. It’s the second time, after Phreak, that a League personality has been involved in one of the easter eggs.
Always wear sunglasses
This one is another cheeky easter egg that revolves around Leona’s passive Sunlight. Any champion that wears sunglasses will receive one less damage from any form of Leona’s passive. While it was initially applied to classic champion skins like Vayne, Riot later included all the skins that have sunglasses like the Commando Skin line. Make sure to wear sunglasses or you will become blind.

League and the easter egg with Jimmy Neutron
If you watch cartoons, you probably know who Jimmy Neutron is. The genius boy is apparently linked to the game, once again, through the item shop. When you type “Jimmy Neutron” in the keyword search, the epic item Sheen will pop up. But why is that?
Only those who watched the series will know the reason: one of Jimmy’s best friends is called Sheen Estévez. While it might be a really small detail for an easter egg, it’s always nice to see Riot implementing some out-of-the-box references.
Control wards get a special buff for staying alive
Riot reworked the control ward at the end of season 6, making it the best way to deny and disable enemy vision. That said, it has become easier to remove them from the map.
For that reason, Riot gives a special buff named “Distinguished Order of Ward Longevity and Health” to those wards that stay on the map for more than two minutes and 30 seconds. The description will say that the ward “has persisted for eons in ward years and joins an ancient regal order of Wards that have lasted a really really really long time”.
