Street Fighter 6 is going to launch with a wide roster of fighters. There are going to be old classics and some new inclusions. Across such a long history though, it can be tricky to keep track of all Street Fighter characters. Not everyone is going to be as iconic as Chun-Li and Ryu! The Street Fighter 6 characters are a smaller batch than the end of SF V, but there is loads of variety among the roster.
Thanks to the Street Fighter 6 showcase, we now have the full starting roster! Every single character available at launch is publicly known now. On top of that, we know the Street Fighter 6 DLC characters that are going to be added over the first year of competition!
All Street Fighter 6 Characters – Base Roster
The base roster that’s coming to the game is including most of the more recognisable names. There are still some Street Fighter V characters missing but all the big hitters are here. These are all of the SF 6 characters that are coming right at launch.
Ryu
Luke
Jamie
Chun-Li
Guile
Kimberly
Juri
Ken
E. Honda
Dhalsim
Blanka
Manon
Marisa
Lily
JP
Dee Jay
Cammy
Zangief
Those are the initial Street Fighter 6 characters we’re getting. It’s better than the just two characters we managed in the pre-release Street Fighter 6 demo! The cast is a couple of characters bigger than the start rosters for previous games. It’s also much more diverse than previous games for play style. You’re getting a decent spread of every type of SF character.
Street Fighter 6 DLC Characters
Alongside those characters, another four have already been announced as Street Fighter 6 DLC characters! These aren’t the base roster, but since they’re coming with some of the different editions of the game most players will have at least a few of these. Along with the characters themselves, there’s also going to be other new content coming with DLC like stages.
These are all of the DLC characters announced so far:
Akuma
Aki
Ed
Rashid
That’s everyone that’s going to be there in the first year! The Street Fighter 6 characters include all the big names. There are also some more fun picks in here though. Across the roster, you’ll find enough to suit the different styles of gameplay for everyone.
Along with all the actual characters, the game has a crazy avatar creator. You can make a lot of weird characters in here. Even before release, players have tried to create some fun crossover characters to run around as. Since avatar characters can have custom movesets, it really opens things up in a lot of the game modes. These avatar creations won’t appear in a Street Fighter 6 tier list or esports, but they’re a fun addition to the game all the same.
New Characters
That’s everyone on the roster at the moment. The bulk are the SF characters that we’ve come to love from across all the different instalments of the franchise. What about the brand-new characters though? These are the fighters who are brand new in this title!

Old SF Characters we’d like to see
Street Fighter 6 is going to have a decent roster, but we’re not getting everyone that was included in the prior game. If you want an idea of some of the fighters that could come with DLC, then these are the Street Fighter V characters that haven’t made a return yet. Some of these SF 6 cut characters have already been talked about devs, so we know they’re being thought about as a future addition.
These are some of the old Street Fighter characters that were missing if you want a complete look at everyone who has been included in this long-running franchise.
Abigail
Alex
Balrog
Birdie
Charlie Nash
Cody
Dan
Eleven
F.A.N.G
Falke
G
Gill
Ibuki
Kage
Karin
Kolin
Laura
Lucia
M. Bison
Menat
Necalli
Oro
Poison
Mika
Rose
Sagat
Sakura
Seth
Urien
Vega
Zeku
Any of these could be a decent pick for Street Fighter 6 characters. There are even more SF characters that have appeared across all the years of the series though. Capcom has pulled from all over the history of the series to find the most interesting picks for Street Fighter 6 characters. That’s along with quite a few slots to brand-new characters! We’ll have to keep an eye on fighting game news after the game releases to see what makes the cut in the rest of the DLC.
How to Pick a Street Fighter Main
That’s the whole roster! Street Fighter 6 is by far the biggest launch for the series though, so what if you’re brand new? How do you pick a main?
There are a few ways you can go. If you’re a new fighting game fan being pulled in by that crazy SF 6 esports prize pool, starting with a fairly simple character like Ryu in Street Fighter works. He has the iconic moves you’ll think of as being Street Fighter. He’s an up-close melee brawler, and he can throw out those recognisable Shoryukens!
There are more great beginner characters in Street Fighter 6, like Ken and Jamie. The game also has heavy tutorials to help you learn the basics of any character you want to go for. Getting good at Street Fighter involves learning all characters, so you always know what you’re up against. There’s no harm in switching mains if you discover you’ve developed to play better with a different style of character! If anything, more experience with different characters is going to improve your gameplay with your main too.
Keep an eye out for more DLC even once you get started with a character. These can be some of the most OP. You might even see DLC characters dominating esports events. At least until they get properly balanced!
