Velma in MultiVersus has been one character that’s grown over time. She might not have looked like the most OP right out of the gate, but over time her kit has been developed until the point where she’s consistently sitting towards the top of the MultiVersus tier list.
If you’re looking to switch your character up as we move towards Season 3, this is what you need to know to excel as Velma in MultiVersus.
Velma MultiVersus Tips and Tricks
We’ll head into more full-on Velma MultiVersus combos below, but first, there are some basic tips and tricks to keep in mind.
Support – Velma is categorized as a support but that isn’t as limiting as in other characters. She can actually compete outside of 2-v-2 too.
Mage-Lite – Velma has a lot of projectile attacks; she can partially play as a Mage if you want.
Zoning – Managing projectiles means controlling space. Use your projectiles to keep your opponent where you want them.
In the Air – Velma has a great spike for overhead juggling. For the most part, you’ll want to stay on the ground yourself though, even when opponents are in the air.
Horizontal Vs Vertical – MultiVersus Velma is a horizontal character, she’s better on the ground than up in the air.
Melee – Velma’s attacks are largely longer range, so up close you’ll have to be creative. Using her MultiVersus combos is the best way to get damage in even if you’re up close.
Best Strategy for Velma in MultiVersus
Velma in MultiVersus has some really impressive strengths. In some areas, she’s one of the best MultiVersus characters. There are some strategies in playing that you’ll need to keep in mind though.
As a character with a lot of projectiles, a good part of your kit is better at a distance. Keep your opponent a decent way away at first. You can throw out the projectiles and other attacks at this range to start getting damage in.
Once the gap closes up, try to go for one of her melee combos. The Quip Master-based one is particularly effective. Your cooldowns for projectiles are worth watching, try not to use them in a specific pattern though as that’s easily predictable and counterable.
Getting kills as Velma depends on a few key big moves. Her specials hit the hardest, but she has faster moves in aerials. Velma is a horizontal fighter. She has great overhead spikes though. Ideally, when an opponent is in a knockable range, you should get them over your head to start hitting the spikes and getting ring-outs.
Velma MultiVersus moves feature a unique mechanic just like Iron Giant in MultiVersus and a load of other characters. Her specials all generate evidence. Collect enough of it and you can have your opponent taken away by a van!
This is something that’s only really helpful for matches that have been dragged out, like if you’re against a zoner or in a 2-v-2. However, it’s hard to rely on it as it has random chance involved.
Velma MultiVersus Combos
In MultiVersus, Velma has quite a few ways to deal heavy damage. The best though is locking opponents into combos. These let you chain multiple moves together which keeps an opponent trapped.
These are some of the best Velma MultiVersus combos to try and master in-game:
Ground Attack Side – Ground Attack Side – Ground Attack Up – Ground Attack Neutral – Ground Attack Neutral – Ground Attack Neutral
Ground Attack Neutral – Jump – Air Special Up – Air Attack Down – Air Special Up – Air Attack Down – Air Attack Down
Jump Air Special Up – Air Attack Down – Air Attack Down – Ground Attack Up
That’s everything you need to know about Velma MultiVersus. Although, the character will definitely develop more over upcoming MultiVersus patch notes. Keep an eye out for changes to make sure you stay on top of the game!
