Capcom showcased three new Street Fighter 6 characters during today’s Sony State of play, including Cammy, Zangief, and Lily.

Previously revealed due to character leaks shown elsewhere, the new characters all received proper gameplay showcases during today’s stream.

Of them, Cammy stands out the most due to her new hairstyle and jacket, while Zangief is far more in the traditional mold. Lily rounds out the cast as a newcomer. They join a cast that also includes Luke, Jamie, Kimberly, Juri, Ryu, E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Manon, Marisa, and Dee Jay.

Fans have already begun dissecting the new moves, with fighting game mainstay Justin Wong among those to point out that Cammy’s moveset references the 1994 animated movie.

Originally revealed last year, Street Fighter 6 is the follow-up to the classic fighting game series, featuring a fully revamped single-player mode and a renewed focus on accessibility. It was confirmed to be part of the Evolution 2023 lineup earlier this week.

We were favorably impressed by its closed beta from last year, predicting that it will be a “monumental moment” for the fighting gaming community.

“This beta sets the standard for future fighting game betas to follow by including literally everything a fighting game fan could reasonably want from an early look at a highly anticipated game: a decent selection of characters, superb netcode, a separation of both ranked and casual play, a tease of what kind of progression to expect when the full game releases, and even a training mode to actually learn how to play,” we wrote at the time.

Street Fighter 6 is currently slated for release on June 2 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. You can find everything else announced during today’s State of Play right here.
