How to Tame A Boar in Fortnite – Free Travel!

Even on the Chapter 4 map, wildlife has its uses! It can pay off to know how to tame a boar in Fortnite.

Boars and wolves are both animals that can enhance your gameplay. In Fortnite, tame a boar and you essentially get free travel. While they aren’t as fast as a car, if you’re willing to sprint them until they drop, you can easily rotate at a decent speed just from a little interaction with an animal.

How to Tame a Boar in Fortnite

Taming wildlife in Fortnite doesn’t just mean they’ll stop attacking you. It also ties them to you, so they’ll follow you around the map. It now even lets you ride them. This is how you do it.

Find a boar
Sneak up on it, or tempt it in using some meat on the floor
Approach the boar
Use your interact button to tame the boar.

There’s an alternative method too, but it can be trickier since boars are prone to darting away. If you can land directly on their back then you’ll go straight to riding the boar. This automatically tames them until you find another boar companion.

You don’t need the best Fortnite settings though, throw some meat on the ground to tempt them in or chase and jump on their backs.

Where to find Boars

The Chapter 4 map in Fortnite isn’t quite as animal filled as previous Chapters. There are still some spawns around if you’re looking at Fortnite to tame a boar immediately off spawn though. They spawn in specific locations each game, but they usually have a not 100% chance of spawning.

This means there are designated spots for each game, but not every game will always have boars at all of the spots. Like chests, there’s a chance that your normal spawn will not have activated that game. There is an element of randomness here. Here are some of the main boar spawns.

North and South of Anvil Square
North of Shattered Slabs
West of the Citadel
North-West of Slappy Shores

Boars are largely contained in the grassy areas. Between these, you should have an easy time finding and figuring out how to tame a boar in Fortnite! They can move over the course of matches too, so keep an eye out for them. New POIs may have spawns too so keep an eye on Fortnite news.

What Else Can You do with Boars in Fortnite?

Once you know how to tame a boar in Fortnite you can ride them, but what else are they here for? Boars are one of the two aggressive animals in Fortnite. They’ll headbutt you and hunt other wildlife. Unlike wolves though they’re skittish and will run if provoked.

Boars aren’t the most interesting Fortnite animal. You probably won’t interact with them too much even with loads of time spent on Fortnite. They can definitely help out with rotation from time to time though.
