Dark Horse Books is launching a new line of collector-focused hardcover editions, and what better franchise to kick things off than Assassin’s Creed?
This new series is appropriately titled the Dark Horse Ultimate Line. The Ultimate books are limited edition, oversized hardcovers with slipcases and various other collectibles. Basically, picture Dark Horse’s answer to high-end graphic novels like DC’s Absolute Editions or IDW’s Artist Editions.
First up for the Ultimate Edition treatment is the recently released The Making of Assassin’s Creed: 15th Anniversary. That book is being given a very lavish makeover, making it a real statement piece for hardcore Assassin’s Creed fans. Get a closer look at the set in the slideshow gallery below:
The Making of Assassin’s Creed: 15th Anniversary is written by Alex Calvin and features behind-the-scenes interviews, concept art and developer commentary for all the games in the series to date. The Ultimate Edition kicks things up the presentation several notches with gilded pages, a satin bookmark, a lithograph art set, a clamshell case and even a metal coin. The entire set is limited to 1000 copies and is priced at $199.99.
“Dark Horse has a reputation for having produced some of the highest-quality books in popular culture, and we’re thrilled to grow that reputation with our expanding line of Ultimate Editions through Dark Horse Direct,” said Senior Editor Ian Tucker in a statement. “As fans and collectors ourselves, we’re obsessed with offering a superlative reading experience—not just in regard to masterfully created content—but with exotic printing treatments, intricate packaging, exciting pack-in collectibles, and more. We’re living in the golden age of fandom, and Dark Horse Direct can’t wait to celebrate!”
The Making of Assassin’s Creed: 15th Anniversary Ultimate Edition is available to preorder now on the Dark Horse Direct website.
Dark Horse has previously expanded on the world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla through both spinoff comics like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Forgotten Myths and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Song of Glory.
Ubisoft recently revealed Assassin’s Creed Mirage, a game that promises to return to the franchise’s roots with a smaller, more stealth-focused experience. You can preorder both the standard and deluxe edition versions now. Also be sure to check out IGN’s guide to playing the entire Assassin’s Creed series in order.
