A familiar top hat made an appearance during today’s Nintendo Direct, as a new teaser revealed that Professor Layton would be coming to the Switch in a new game called Professor Layton and the New World of Steam.
No release date was given, and as the teaser contained no gameplay or other details it’s unlikely to come this year.
The last time we heard from the puzzle-solving lad was in 2017 with Layton’s Mystery Journey on the Nintendo 3DS, making this the first entry in five years and the first time Layton has appeared on the Switch.
Professor Layton was an incredibly popular series for the DS and 3DS for years, spawning four main games on the DS, three on the 3DS, and a spin-off mobile game. It also inspired a feature film in 2009, a 50-episode anime, and a manga.
