FIDE Online Arena, the official gaming platform of the International Chess Federation has recently introduced a new feature on its platform which allows Chess players to track the calories they burn during matches. Yes, you can now see how many calories you have burned after a match, and it’s not limited to any time control. You can also track the accumulated calories burned, within a day, a week, or a month of Chess playtime.

How does FIDE Online Arena track calories?

According to the site, FIDE Online Arena uses a unique method to track calories which includes player details such as weight, height, and age. On top of that, it also takes into account a game’s data including speed of play, game duration, intensity, and difficulty.

Calorie tracking is only available for rated games, which requires you to register as a member of the site. But don’t worry, registrations are free and fairly simple. Playing Rated games provide other perks such as getting your hands on the game analysis. On the other hand, non-rated games are available for non-registered players but you won’t get access to game analysis and calorie tracking.

Once you have made an account, your Rated games can now provide calorie tracking. It will provide a generic estimate of calories burned. We tested a 1-minute Bullet game and it displayed that 3 kcal has been burned during the Chess match.

After a Chess match on the platform, you will see how many calories you have burned during the game.

If you want more accurate readings, you can fill in more information about your age, height, and weight. Just press “Specify your parameters” and it will bring you to your “Info & Bio” section.

To check your full calorie tracking, go to your profile. On the bottom right side, you can find an overview of your calories burned. You can select specific durations by week, month, or year.

This calorie tracking feature in Chess is definitely exciting but do take the data with a pinch of salt. The numbers may not be fully accurate since it’s an estimate from the few indicators it can get.
