PlayStation Recommends at Least 32GB of RAM to Play Returnal on PC

Sony suggests that players have at least 32GB of RAM when playing Returnal on PC, even though the minimum is 16GB.

First spotted by Wccftech, some of the specifications for Returnal’s PC port were posted on the game’s Steam page, including a hefty recommendation of at least 32GB of RAM. That’s significantly more than even intensive games like Microsoft Flight Simulator, Elden Ring, and Cyberpunk 2077.

Players will need a minimum processor of Intel Core i5-6400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X, and at least an Nvidia GeForce GTZ 1060 or AMD Radeon RX580. The game itself will take up 60GB of storage space.

As for the other recommended specifications, the game suggests players have an Intel i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X for their processor and an Nvidia RTX 2070 Super or AMD RX 6700 XT.

The PC port is being handled by Climax Studios, which has worked with Returnal developer Housemarque before on games such as Resogun and Dead Nation. Unfortunately, the PC version will not support cross-play with PlayStation 5 players for the game’s endless mode, Tower of Sisyphus.

After numerous leaks, the PC version of Returnal was officially announced at The Game Awards 2022. The game was first released on April 30, 2021, for PlayStation.

In IGN’s Returnal review, we said, “The moment-to-moment gameplay of Returnal is sublime, with a great selection of weapons that each have a wide variety of interesting possible traits, meaningful strategic decisions that can either keep a run afloat or doom it to sink, and punishingly challenging yet rewarding gunplay that is consistently exhilarating.”
